I'm serious about setting up a Dedicated Minecraft server in Australia, I don't have much knowledge of Dedicated servers or Server settings, That's why I'm wanting to build up an Australian Minecraft server team. (Will consist of 2-4 people)
I will be handling the .com domain(s), website design and anything website related for the Minecraft server.
To be apart of this Australian Minecraft server team you will need to have the following requirements.
- Australian Dedicated server knowledge (If you already have a Dedicated server that we can use, let us know)
- Server settings
- Server plugins/mod knowledge
- Located in Australia (Both you, and the server)
- Must be addicted to Minecraft
Topics that have been covered for the Minecraft server.
- Website domain
- Website hosting (Can be separate from the Dedicated server)
- Website design & coding (Includes forum design)
- Minecraft server name
Our goal - To create a Minecraft server that is reliable, stable and online 24/7, 365 days a year. We want this to be the home for every Australian Minecraft user.
Once the Minecraft server and Website have launched, we may ask for donations, donations will give you a colored name & status.
At first, we will have to put our own money into the Australian Dedicated server, after time, we hope that donations will be enough to keep the Dedicated server up for years to come.
If you feel like you want to be apart of this team, or just have any questions, feel free to email me at hello[@]vustom.com or you can reply to this topic.
Then there's the premium providers that peer with Pipe, Optus, Telstra, Internode, etc, to give you the best possible latency / low pings, like Aussie HQ http://www.aussiehq.com.au/ in Sydney, or Sanity Technology in Brisbane http://www.sanitytechnology.com.au/ but you won't see much change from $300/month - mind you it's quality service but hard to stretch the budget that far for a game server.
The 99 a month server wont get you very far, 1gb of ram is very limiting (unless you are aiming for 10 players).
I use www.spartanit.com.au, they are quite good in terms of bandwidth, only charging for inbound, you get 100mb, which seems to peak at about 90ish, and peter back down to a steady 20/30 or so.
I am currently procuring a dedicated server from AussieHQ with 6GB of RAM and plenty of bandwidth, should be ready for testing by Friday this week. I will be looking to build an Australian community of players however. If you want to get in on the action and help me out, you are more than welcome! :smile.gif:
I'm in australia and any updates on this server and who is a part of it is nice to know. I've set up a server but if it is gonna be dedicated i'll have to move it because i don't want to leave my computer on all night. If possible i'm in
I meet the requirement's though my server is not dedicated. Currently my server is running on 4gb of ram
