Unfortunately I'm getting errors regarding the shared object file when running the server:
./mineserver: error while loading shared libraries: libnoise.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Once again, it doesn't see your dynamic library in a standard location. Make sure it is contained in a location that is part of your environment PATH variable. You could also just statically link it, which would make life much easier.
And as for me, I'm having a hard time getting libnoise to link. I've compiled noise, events, and server but can't get them to link. Will let you know what I find out.
You're right, CentOS/RHEL doesn't include /usr/local/lib by default so I created the following file:
Thanks for the info. I have not had the time to try it on one of my servers yet but I will keep that in mind when I do since I'm a CentOS user :wink.gif:
Just in case anyone is interested, I got the forums set up and working the other day. The website is closer to being functional! I've also set up a wiki and gotten the login/logout stuff integrated with the forum accounts, but as of right now it's completely empty. Once things aren't moving so quickly, we'll be able to put some documentation up there.
small question. why a url in Belgium and have your location on this forum in Japan :s
I... don't actually see how the two are related at all and I'm 95% sure you're trying to be funny (or something). I'll humor you though: the domain is .be because it was cheap, but the server where that site is hosted is actually in Sweden. As for how I can be so far away, thanks to this internet thing, I don't need to physically be at the server to work with it.

I'm pretty confident he wasn't trying to be funny, I had to look at it for a second to understand what he meant. GuardMoony is one of the good guys :wink.gif:
Nah just wondered because im from Belgium and normally the domains aint cheap :/
Oh. Fador got a discount coupon or something for it I think, so it was really cheap.

Heh, okay. Can't be too wary on this ol' internet thing here.
Also I've been informed that the server is in Finland, not Sweden. Remember: Finland is winland!

Is there anyway you could post all of the options for config.cfg somewhere, maybe even the site's wiki. I compiled the latest git and deleted my old config file and it doesn't really autogenerate the options.

Wow - the progress of this server is breakneck! I leave for a week, come back, and DOZENS of commits were made! Fantastic! BTW, just for the record, and Mac and/or PPC users feel free to PM me for compiled binaries (deoxxa, let me know if this is not kosher with you guys). I always have the most up-to-date builds :-D

Fine with me! We're yet to get the build system up and running for Mac.
In related news, there are some preliminary Windows builds ready for testing. Visit http://mineserver.be/downloads/ and grab the newest file available (hint: check the "last modified" field). The exe is a proper installer (makes start menu shortcuts, puts an entry in the add/remove programs dealie, has an uninstaller) and the zip file is just the files themselves. These builds are somewhat automated so they may not work all the time, but they should be okay mostly. The builds themselves are 32 bit only for now.
If anyone is wondering why the start menu shortcuts go into "<start menu>\Mineserver Project\Mineserver\", it's because there will likely be an administration tool to go alongside Mineserver in the future and plugins themselves may have external applications that need their own menu.
Debian/Ubuntu builds are next on the list, then Mac DMG files. If anyone feels like doing builds for other operating systems, come join #mineserver on irc.esper.net and we'll see if we can work something out.

Thanks for this :smile.gif: You're making amazing progress, will probably use this once furnaces are implemented.
Just a question, though. It says that experimental water physics are implemented (in the feature list), and 'liquid_physics' is set to true in the config file, but water/lava doesn't seem to be doing anything.

mcmapDZ: Simple, lightning-fast interactive web maps.
i'm really following this. my computer can't support mobs because it lags the server too much. if this would allow me to use mobs without lag in the future, i would be in love with it.
I currently Host a Private Server for 4 of My friends. There is minimal to no lag. when this releases i'm going to use it on my server. I went on the test server and it was purely amazing, although physics seemed a little wierd.
I also know c++ and Lua Scripting, I'm going to make some crazy plugins, they wont even be called plugins, they will be called mods.
Why would it be wrong or illegal? Notch isn't selling the server, he's selling the client. Why would he care about the server, especially if it encourages more people to buy the client?
Only thing i can think is. Beta is gone start soon. meaning there gone overhaul there protocols for optimization. Meaning new protocols and client. meaning that this server will also have to rewrite that part.
For you guys worried about changes in protocol, I think you are silly. Nearly all of the protocol has been reversed, as it is very simple.
If you notice though about this project, the only thing they are working on is feature implementation, which is a lengthy process. If only the protocol changes in future versions, it will only be a short while before it is figured out. I know of many large commercial games that have their protocol reversed (and these are much more complicated) and bots are easily able to log onto their servers.
You're right, CentOS/RHEL doesn't include /usr/local/lib by default so I created the following file:
Once I reran I was able to start the server! yay! :biggrin.gif:
