Im not sure what to tell you, my recommendation would to be to disc utility (user/applcations/utilities/disk utility) and select your hardrive then "repiar disk permissions". I found that this has a way of fixing lots of little problems.
Thanks, I got it working now! I just did a complete redo of the entire directory. Now i just have to figure out problems with a plugin for hey0.. I don't know if you can help but here is the thread: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=58437
Hi, I just joined the forums to hopefully get some help with the problem I'm having with this. First off, this guide has been helpful so far, thanks very much for looking out for us Mac users!
Alright, I followed the directions of the first post and got my server running fine. My problem occurred when I tried to add mods to my server. I downloaded some mods, dragged the .class files into the folder the minecraft_server.jar was in, did the part where I list the .class files in the terminal, it said it added them, then tried to run my server.
When I did so, the server opened for a split-second then immediately closed and the terminal said:
Last login: Tue Oct 19 14:23:38 on ttys000
/Users/-------/Desktop/MinecraftServer/BootServer.command ; exit;
--------computer:~ ---------$ /Users/--------/Desktop/MinecraftServer/BootServer.command ; exit;

I also had a new problem. Every time I try to connect to my own server automatically shuts down the server to run and will not let me connect, I do not know if it can be with a new version of the Hey0 mod, but it does certainly not me.
So I hope this isn't off topic, but I've gotten a server up and running before, but what is or how do I find the IP to my server.. I'm sorry for the n00b question but I'm fairly new to this.

This was a problem with Hey0s mod but I think he fixed it, are you still having this problem?
If server admins want to keep their servers running without terminal running as an open window (if terminal is closed, so is the server), they can do this extra step so only the minecraft SMP server window is open:
Make an Applescript -
1) Open Applescript Editor (Applications/Utilities/Applescript Editor)
2) Type in:
do shell script "/Users/~/Desktop/Minecraft/BootAlphaServer.command"
(directory will differ based on where your .command script is)
3) Save the script and run it from anywhere
Voila - you now have your SMP server running without terminal open.
P.S. In theory, you could completely bypass the whole .command setup using only an Applescript, but I haven't put in the time to figure it out.
Swoot, Great tutorial I have it bookmarked because this is like the only Mac Compatible tutorial but i was just wonder...
How do you undo this? The applescript. I don't like when the server is always up, it drains battery
quick question... my brother and i use the same profile and we want to play together. each of us can make our own server but the other cant join. example.. "when we type in the numbers :25565 then hit enter, the host (either my brother or i) will begin to play and it will work perfectly fine. on the other hand. when ever the other person try's to join the text says on minecraft
"failed to join."
"connection refused"
we cant seem to get it to work, so if you have a solution, please let me know! thanks!

Same profile on minecraft? Like the name profile when you log into minecraft? Im guessing when the server checks for name verification and sees that one of you is online already and denys your attempt to connect. The best work around would to buy another copy.

There's really no undo, except to delete the applescript. All the applescript really does is act like an alias/shortcut. It doesn't change how the server runs at all. If you mean shut down the server, simply do a Command-Q or click on the red button on the server in the top left of the server window.
If there's no "net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer" running in the dock, then that means the server is not running on your computer.
i cant get it to work.
first it says that it cant open teh .jar file
then when i downloaded the minecraft server gui thing it says something like Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute
help?

Have no iea what that error means. Are you opening it from terminal or just double clicking on the jar?

If its just at your house, then no. Also you will both connect using the internal ip of the computer, not the ip from whatsmyip.org.

I get that whenever I try to open the textedit .command file now.
try typing
chmod +x *path to your .command file*
into terminal, press enter, then try opening it.
I dont know, you'll have to pm tychoid. Maybe
kill *path to the script* might do it? Then dont run it anymore?
