First go into where your minecraft sever is located and make a text document it does not matter what the name is
Now open it and paste this "java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar" into the text document
Now go to the top right corner of the text document to "file" then "save as" and change the name to minecraft_server.bat and change the file type to all files keep encoding at ANSI
Now you should have a .bat file in your minecraft server folder you can delete the text document but NOT the .bat
Now double click the .bat and it should come up with a cmd screen then the server screen now if it did not do this then it didn't work please feel free to ask me questions.
I applied the first solution of the .bat file and it made my server start normally. However, when I try to log into my server from minecraft it says "server outdated." I have my server and my minecraft file running on 1.9 version 4. Is there a solution to this?
i have the same not enof ram problem, but i rely dont get how to run it good... I'm not very good with PC's but i had my server running and after a while i lagg out its stuck and then i gotta shut it down..
[WARNING] **** NOT ENOUGH RAM!
[WARNING] To start the server with more ram, launch it as "java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar"
Much people say how to run is as that java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar, can someone explain it in nab language?
Nah but sirieusly i dont understand how to do that.
"nab" language: You need to tell the game that you want it to use more (ram) memory when it runs. Do do this you need to launch it from the command line.
This is done differently depending on which system you are using. The easy way to do this is explained in the very first post in this thread. You open notepad, copy and paste in what they ask you to, and save the file as a .bat file instead of .txt file. This way when you click it it will run the program from the command line like it should to access the extra memory.
Please make sure to do exactly what they said to do, and to save the file in the same folder that you are currently running Minecraft from.
If you're getting a 'Command not found' error, or your console window just closes without doing anything, it could be that you need to set your PATH for Java. Here's how:
I created a batch file & updated my PATH variable with directory of current Java version.
Then added this to PATH (don't forget the semi-colon to separate this path from previous one):
;C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin
For Win7 Ultimate with Jre7, I right click: Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > Environmental Variables > System Variables > highlight PATH then click EDIT
Add semi-colon, then the PATH to current version of Java then press Okay.
Hi guys i m rlly happy you made all this and i couldnt wait to make a server , but can you beleve that nothing works...
i spent 2 days reading and slowly trying every one of the options you guys posted, and it couldnt work :sad.gif: so ill specify my problem in litle litle details:
i have windows XP and my ram memory is 2,25 GB, i use 32 system, i hope thats enofe abaut me computer...
so my problem is that when i try starting a server it seas "not enofe ram" like most guys here,
next thing is that i made a bat file with the java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar , and it didnt work, i tryed changeing it into almoust all you guys posted here like about 10 combinations but nothing worked :sad.gif:
so than i changed the path like all of you recomended and i changed it into many things, like where is java located on my computer like C:\program files\ etc... and i tryed the locations you guys posted... nothing worked!
it just seas:'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
so pls pls pls pls help me make a server, cmd just cant be opened :'( some pls help me
okay i know got it lol but now the prob is evrytime i try to run the Minecraft_server.bat it opens a little black menu and within 0.5 sec it closes again... it does nothing lol, can anyone help me out?
I think you should download the .jar file (found at http://www.minecraft.net/download) and add it in the same folder as the rest of the server.
I know exactly why my doesn't work...THERE'S TO MUCH STUFF HAPPENING ON THE WORLD!! Its a BIG adventure map and i have a save file of it but whatever i try to do on it.Next time i open it up i get the error. And in singleplayer it works but its literally 1 frame per 5 seconds.Anyone know how to fix this?

i have a mac, and whenever i open the server it says i don't have enough ram. i don't know really what to do because i have never made my own server without purchasing. i would like if i were to get some help
instead of using just "java" i put the whole path to the javaw.exe in quotes. (this is the default windows 7 64bit java install path)
note: i tried setting it to 2048 but it gave me some kind of "could not create virtual machine" error
this worked great for me, the only problem i got was:
when i started the bat files it said could not access minecraft.jar file or whatever, i just had to change it to minecraft.exe and the console would appear and program functionally...thanks a lot

For me I run it and it instantly crashes and goes off the server runner...
