Yeah, if sending keys to the server won't work. The best bet is to run a mod like Hey0s server mod that auto saves every set amount of seconds. This way you can set the server to save to disk often enough that the backups should be up to date or only behind by a few minutes at best.

MC AutoBackup:

You can set it up to autobackup at a certain time, but he was trying to get it to force the server to issue a save-all command before backup. Otherwise the backup will be missing all material that has been placed since last save was issued.

Therein lies another problem, I'd again have to capture input to the server... which is possible using your vbscript if people start their server using my script alone, then I can control the window title of hte server and do all that.
So this sounds like an absolutely lovely script, and it may just be me being dense, but I've downloaded it and tried to run it and had little to no success. Running the .bat, with or without my server being up, gives me the following:
'php' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

No idea what the problem could be. I have PHP installed so I'm not getting the first part of jamsessionein's error but every time I try to run the bat it instantly crashes like that.
I made sure the server directory is correct, it's pointing to the correct task for auto start, and made sure the exe is selected for auto start.
Is this tested on 64 bit windows?
Does this not work with the latest distro of minecraft? I'm on server 0.2.1 and minecraft 1.1.2
Alright... apparently PHP doesn't have a 64bit version, they just made the 32bit as compatible iwth 64bit as possible. So basically it should work out of the box on 64bit servers... not sure why it did not work for you.
Was there a php_errorlog in the mineauto folder after running? Also, what was the title of the command window when it crashed?
Having some problems with the zipping process, it had been working fine up untill today.
It finishes the copying state with copying 40896 files and then during the zipping process is goes past that up to 43000~ files and then says mineauto crashed.
Tested with Hey0's mod and it works fine as long as you make sure to edit the .ini file to launch Minecraft_Mod.jar!
Thanks for this dude!
Question... is it possible to have it automatically restart the server every X amount of hours? I like to do it manually a lot because I have a tiny private server on a somewhat normal (read: not amazingly fast) pc and it can get sluggish.
Hey, if you want that feature there; then yes I will include it. I am also working on a more linux-friendly version right now (since the current one relies on xcopy (which CAN be installed on linux, but is not native to linux.))
Adding a force_restart variable and a separate delay for that in the next version...
Also... does anyone have suggestions? Apart from what I've promised in the first post, I don't know what else to do to this.

Automatic server restart already exists... :tongue.gif:.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?
Please read the FAQ in my poast above, and download PHP for windows. Download the appropriate thread safe VC9 distribution for your version of windows.

It does print out the header though sorry I should have been more specific. I get...
