And I removed my ability to remotely shutdown servers.
No, you commented out the code, not removed.
We can read. Stop lying and seek a psychologist. And, if some people are disgruntled enough (I'm not, I use hey0's mod), a lawyer.
Commented it out yes, so everyone can see I had it in there. And removing equals commenting out. Its not in the release. Whether I now cut it out or comment it out, what's the difference? If I cut it out, I thought it might seem like I was hiding that something like this ever existed, so I just commented it out for people to look at it.

In the last few days I messed up badly. I played with the trust of my users, I abused it to be precise.
So what did I do?
I integrated a feature into MCAdmin which made me unkickable and unbannable.
Also I made a feature which could set my level to admin level.
And the last thing was I could remotely disable any server from running MCAdmin
Now why would I do that?
Well, the first feature was made because some admins kicked me thinking I was a hacker (because of my [Dev] tag).
The second feature I integrated to help admins of servers, so I can show them around the commands, and how they work with MCAdmin and resolve issues right on-the-server.
And for the last thing, I don't know why I did it, I had the idea of some servers harming the community or something.
So, what now?
Well, the features are all removed already. I cannot remotely shutdown your server nor am I any kind of special.
Now all I can do is saying sorry. I never thought people would call this abusive, I would have never abused it.
But I understand people might think like that.
So what's with that guy (Bradster) whos server you disabled because of disliking him?
I disabled his server after he insulted me, not because I dislike him. You have to see, at that time, one guy ont he server insulted me (a guest) so I said "shut up". This got me banned, Then I reconnected because I got unbanned just to be yelled at how I should not decide how I am running my admin mod or not. Thus I disabled his server.
This was not right and all I can do is saying I am sorry for that, too. I overreacted.
But what's the "Developer mode" about now?
Well, now it prompts you to accept my request for "developer mode", this will grant me all rights. If you do not wish that, you can just click "no" on the box and nothing will happen.
@Doridian: Thank you for making great software, I love MCAdmin, have used it on my server since I got MC and will continue to use it as long as it still works. Ignore these petty people with nothing better to do than hassle someone on a forum.
@Pissed People: Give it a rest, he made a mistake, apologised and removed the offending code. It's not malware, you can disable sending server info to the master server (not exactly hidden either), no access was granted to any other information or resources on your server. Give up, move on, get a life, go build something fun.
<what i actually came to the forum to say>
Can you add the autostart parameter to the wiki? It's taken we weeks to find it (was buried in the changelog) and it's a feature almost all server admins would like.
Blatantly false. My server was never accessing the global master list or global ban list, and the program was still sending data to internal.mcadmin.eu and was also able to be shut down. Try and understand exactly what you're defending.

Most of the data between your server and internal.mcadmin.eu is for the autoupdater.
The other is getip.php which gets your external IP. And yes, this *could* shut you down, I'm not going to lie here. But I cut commented the code out (essentially the same thing in the end)
MCAdmin is most likely prone to be discontinued anyway seeing as Notch retweeted the reddit post of someone who tells them how abusive MCAdmin is.....
it's sort of your fault for abusing your powers and losing everyone's trust. you're trying to put the blame on everyone else whpo's sharing the story, instead of blaming yourself for even thinking it was okay to do what you did.

I am not blaming it on anyone else. I am not saying its okay what I did, because it wasn't. It was a bad mistake and I know that now.
I appreciate the stated intent of this code. I would have liked being told what was being done before it was implemented. I like the software. Its ease of use, its functionality (I haven't found much in the way of other software that has the limited blocks function MCAdmin does other than you kinda getting there with griefalert through hey0's plugin), its ease of setup...its excellent in these areas. I suspect that had we been told what was happening, and the dev mode by default doing the popup, minimal hate would have come about. Am I sure of this? No. This is the internet.
I would suspect that the reason so much hate is being written is that those that are happy with the software in general don't say much for the software. They use it, and get the updates as they come down the pipe.
I intend to keep using this software for now. I like its functions, I like its ability to have mods dropped in (currently have hey0's running as a mod, and the lava mod from llamacraft), and most of all, its stability. I went through several other mods trying them, each of them caused more memory leaks or lacked the features "out of the box" that I desired.
I want to thank Reddit and the Minecraft community for bringing this joke to my attention as a server admin.
I will never run this software or any software ever affiliated with this developer. In fact, I hope this follows you to any future jobs you might try to obtain as a developer so you can see the long reaching consequences of your actions.
You used malware to get control of peoples private servers they either run themselves or paid for.
I don't understand why you think this is ok. Are you 10? You shouldn't have even thought of doing anything remotely
close to that in the first place. So you're saying it was alright of you to do whatever the hell you did to disable peoples servers on their own personal servers or computers? You literally hacked in to someone elses server and disabled it with your software (really malware now).
If anyone here is smart they will get with a lawyer and press criminal charges against you.
You should also be banned. I don't know why you keep trying to justify an illegal act.
I guess if it's alright for people here to spread malware , what's next, viruses?

Apologies don't fix trust. That's like killing someone and telling the judge you're sorry and you'll never do it again. I can post chat logs and references why you should never be trusted again. You're a MOD DEVELOPER. What even made you think you even had half the ****ing authority to spread malware into a community? And the fact that you could run ANY code? You could start a RAT on peoples computers, steal their information etc. What you did is ILLEGAL and is an invasion of privacy.
People aren't just gonna forgive you for what you did. Stop developing, stop posting, just sit down with your OWN life in real life and work your issues out before you take them out on other communities. Half the reason you're a furry is because that's the only group that will accept you, because they all have issues too.

With respect, you did abuse your power. You might not have used the specific dev mode on his server to do it, but you demonstrated that you are extremely capable of abusing power that you hold, and that did more damage to your cause than almost anything else (with the possible exception of the confrontational attitude you took, it's a close tie).
The mod is great, but your bewilderment about the community response in light of your actions doesn't make sense.
One suggestion: When apologizing, you may have better luck if you don't keep using language that places the burden on the people you're ostensibly apologizing to. There's a huge difference between "I'm sorry I did this" versus "I'm sorry you were offended by me doing this".

I'm glad you 'open sourced' it. Good luck with further endeavors

Dumbass kid and inserting backdoors.
Tell me what I should do then.

Seriously, where are mods when you need them?
