I made a forum account just so I could ask about this.
I think I'm having a little spot of difficulty with the path setting... It keeps giving me an error saying that it can't find my server launcher file.
Just to clarify am I setting a path to my java.exe's bin and the folder where I'm storing the server files? Right now my PATH looks something like -----JAVA BIN----- ; ------SERVER BIN-------;%system etc...
I think my error is in the path setting but I could be wrong. I'm not new to server hosting but I would like to try and get this running soon.
This serverlauncher really is great. The server is way more stable and doesn't require reboots every few hour.
Admin rights is also god sent, means I don't have to take care of everything my self and means less fires when I'm asleep or at work.
The difficulty of installing it makes up for how well it runs at any rate, like mentioned earlier, it means only people with some technical knowledge will host with this, which is a good thing if you ask me.
Granted I had a mishap when I did have to restart, thus enabling #fun again. Some people joined, spawned tnt and messed up everything the other people had created. Then again, that's SMP at the current state for ya.

The only feature I could possibly see this needing, is maybe a /goto command, so admins can teleport to people. But I think that probably requires editing the official jar file or something, so I don't expect that.
Btw, is there any way to make it so you can enter commands in the console? Cause at the moment I have to log into the server, if I want to help, administrate, or shut down safely.

I don't get why people have trouble installing this one, for me, it was as easy as downloading the file, unzipping it, setting myself as admin, then making a super simple 1 line BAT file and running it.
Not really anything else to it. Although I guess some people don't have Java setup right, I didn't do any extra configuring anywhere. (although I am somewhat of an IT person)
As far as I can tell, this should be one of the more simple ones to install. =/

That would probably require Task Scheduler and some separate GUI program (might not work; may require editing the registry). I could make it, but I won't, just to **** off the little kiddies a bit more.

lol, naw I wasn't asking anyone to make anything that weird anyway. :happy.gif:; Was just curious about it.
I sortof figured it was a limitation of the Java/console window.

You'd be surprised. I figured out the path and pretty much everything on my own, but failed when I tried to start the server as I didn't proper capitalize the launch cmd, sure made me feel like a dumkoppf, especially since I contacted the creator about it.
But if you look at the other threads it's mostly people linking their local ip and asking people to connect to that, doing this procedure must be close to wizard capabilities for them.
You can type in commands, they just don't appear until after you push enter.

PvP is like sex. When both parties are willing, it can be a very enjoyable experience. However, when one party is not, it is bound to ruin someone's day.
You want to type "java ServerLauncher whitelist 10". The whitelist uses the names in the banned.txt file. I should probably have been more explicit in the OP (editing now).
EDIT: I also touched up the running instructions a bit.
@cgears09 Actually I didn't see your post until just now. Seriously though, break out the google-fu. I know people expect miracles but nobody can really help you out without knowing anything about your computer, where Java is installed, or what you actually put into the path variable. With that being said, I don't think anybody wants to spend 5-10 minutes helping someone set their path variable correctly when other people are doing it just fine using already existing guides.
@Czahrien I'm sorry, I don't mean to question the installation since I'm not well-schooled in Java, it's just that every time I think I have it set-up correctly, it gives me an error that I cannot locate my class file "ServerLauncher"
For most people you would put the java bin in the PATH and the server bin in the CLASSPATH. Am I correct in saying this?
Maybe you do that by running a batch file from the same directory as the server or using the "cd" command on the command prompt to get to the server's directory?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Here, a diamond for you.
So it worked for you too? :smile.gif: Kewl
- Hook the help display to display info about the wrapper commands.
- Make sure the server stops when the wrapper is terminated.
