Hello I try setting up my very first server for minecraft today and it works and all. My friends can connect to the server just fine. But the thing is I can't connect to the server. Each time I try to connect it says connect lost. I have the server running on the other computer that I have. The other computer runs other servers just fine. I.E Team Speak 3, FTP, small CSS Server and 1 or two more things. I have try running my game with the &override=true but it still says connect losted. I the port forward too. This is what it says when just I connect:
17:36:55 /192.168.1.67 connected
17:36:55 /192.168.1.67 lost connection suddenly. (java.io.IOException: An
existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host)
17:36:55 /192.168.1.67 disconnected
I have try the vinfty-name=false too and it doesn't work. So if someone could help me out I would love it.
I had this same problem too, I shot off an email to notch and I got this reply.
The problem is probably that you need to connect to that server via its internal IP. The minecraft.net servers don't know about that ip number, so it can't give it to the client.
The only way to connect to a custom ip number is to use the deprecated ?ip=<ip>&port=<port> options, but they can't securely verify that you really are who you logged in as, so those require verify names to be turned off in the settings, which is a very bad idea for a public server.
If you're running a private server, turn of verify-names in the server settings, then go to play.jsp?ip=<ip>&port=<port>
If you're running a public server, you probably need to check the settings in your router. I don't know what needs to be changed.
Not sure if that helps you at all but here's what I did,I grabbed custom server software and that seemed to let me connect to the server fine.
