What's the problem?
I didn't know it either until I saw this thread, trying to do random commands on my server to fly so that I could take some screenshots.
It's pretty annoying that's it's not a server feature at least. I'd like to be able to take some decent shots without towerbuilding up everytime I want a different angle. Especially when my work is near the top of the world.

I played minecraft multiplayer, and I typed /cmd then it said /help: help about the server /spawn:goto spawn
/flypermit:use one diamond to fly for 4 mins. LOL ITS SIMPLE JUST ASK A MOD TO SPAWN DIA FOR YOU IN THAT SERVER THE IP IS: mineclubvip.dyndns.org:25565 is only used 1k blocks away from spawn. no , so sorry! I'll ask raj(owner) about adding them.
its not possible without hacks, but it is with them. And that is why the flag is there. If it detects if someone is havent weird movement it will kick them off. "Flying" is also possible through various plugins.
You can use Zombe's Mod pack and just tick the Flying feature in the config file. I also think you only have to overwrite the gh.class. However, this will only work with servers that have the property "allow-flight=true"
Seriously, nobody knows how to use the fly true/false thing in the server properties? Maybe Notch should tweet/blog about it so that somebody will know. Nobody even knows on the wiki!

He's right. You probably just saw a server with +ophax and thought that OPs could fly automatically. Easy mistake, it's sort of what I thought too when I started playing.
so if your lke the admin of the server you can fly? like the maker of the server
It does, however, if the SMP server has its config set to flight=false. Then the server will detect a player trying to get high and the player will get kicked.
There are a few bukkit plugins that allow flight and can also bypass the config to allow only selected groups/users via permissions, to using fly hacks/plugins.
As for Creative Classic Minecraft. If the server is set to -hax +ophacks then you wont be able to fly unless you are an operator/admin, and most good servers have flight detection.
