If you have a comcast plan...
do you have to pay the extra money each month for server hosting? or can you do this with just a regular plan?
i want to up some with my friends
The download link offered doesn't appear to have the files you say it does.
I was running a halfway decent server before the most recent update. I tried updating my server with the methods you gave. But seeming as the download didn't include what you mentioned (I think) I was unable to do so.
My train of thought led me to; Delete what server data I had, excluding map data and other various notepad saved data, then download the whole new server itself. Unfortunately, the download STILL didn't have everything I need. So, it didn't work either. Please excuse my noobishness. I do the best I can.
I just discovered that "the board attachment quota has been reached." so this is what was included in the download;
minecraft-server : Executable Jar file
Read me : text document (obvs)
Start server : Windows batch file.
I'm having the same problem where the DL doesn't include mentioned files... We need a fix...
for the people getting the "java is not found" error you have your startserver.bat set to
"java -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -jar Minecraft_Server.jar" instead change it to "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms1536M -Xmx1536M-jar Minecraft_Server.jar for a 64-bit
and "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms1536M -Xmx1536M -jar Minecraft_Server.jar for 32-bit
of course you can change the -Xms####M -Xmx####M to your desired amount of RAM
make sure u have " around the "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" or it will not work
how do i make it a private server and every time i go in it i gos to single player?????? and how do i find out what the ip is so i can play it with the full game????
Everyone else doesn't seem to be having problems as early as I am...ugh. Yes, I'm stuck on step 2. There are no files in the .zip archive named "server," let alone two. I use WinRAR now for Minecraft purposes. Should I start using something else...? Or am I completely screwing up?
After doing all the steps, i try to log in to my own server, and in MineCraft, it shows me "Internal exception: java.io.IOException: Bad packet id 14".
In the CMD, i got

When I try and join my own server I get a bad packet ID 14? Says I need to log in on the server window.
Whats that all about? I have the ports forwarded, but the server kicks me for that error. I'm trying to set up a server that my wife and I can play on.
If you downloaded the 'minecraft-server.zip' file from this tutorial then you have the wrong version of the server software.
Go to www.minecraft.net/download.jsp and download minecraft_server.exe - start it and have your wife connect to your computers internal IP (presuming you're in the same home) - and if you're running the server on the same computer you play from, you simply have to type 'localhost' to connect.. that's it.

go to "www.ipchicken.com" and it will give you a series of numbers you type that in.
Are you so pimp that you can knock the death star's lasers back at it? With the Starwars texture pack you can.
