hi.. first of all i am sorry for my bad english
i did all the port forwarding things but i dont know what to do next... when i start the "start server" file it tells me i should use the link in the textfile that was created (external url) but it doesnt work... it always tells me my server is down... so can PLEASE someone explain me how to create a server i even see my server in the serverlist but i cant join...
To join a server that you're hosting you need to set up the config to have "verify-names" set to false, you should also join through http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=&port= not the external url :smile.gif:
i still dont get it... lol.. if i use that link i am on a server but my buddys still cant join it still tells them server is down.. and the server exe file always tells me when i execute it: Level saved! Load: 0/16 should it be that way? can someone tell me exacly what to do after i finished the port forward thing and which link do i have to sent to my friends to get them to join to my server? How can i see that the exe file worked right and the server is online? omg i know i am stupid
After configuring everything and starting the server you should see a window open and it'll contain stuff like "load 0/16", this means the server is online and running. For you to connect to your server you'll need to use the aforementioned method of using the server IP and port to connect, for your friends to connect you'll need to open up externalurl.txt and send them the link from inside.
Load: 0/16 <- Number of Players Connected/Maximum number of Players
After you port forward, some routers require you to set Firewall rules for the in-built firewall. You'll have to check how to do this on PortForward.com. If it's required that is.
Also, if you have firewall software Windows Firewall, ZoneAlarm, etc. You might need to set the access rules for this, again, depending on your firewall; it varies on how you'll do this. Alternatively (but not recommended) you can turn your firewall off completely.
finally.. i managed to create the server and my buddys can join the server now it all works... except that i dunno how to join the server^^ (i changed the verify names to false) someone gave me a link but i dont know how this works i have to insert my ip adress somewhere in the link? or my static ip adress? and everytime i join a server it tells me : you cant connect to this server via this url any more! and when i join i create a new level but i think i am in single player mod and i cant find my buddys anywhere.. so that the last problem.. i somehow have to connect to my own server^^ if you somehow manage to help me it would be great.. thank you ( i dont really get what i have to insert in that link to get on my own server)
thanks for helping... at least other players a re able to join my server even if i am not able to... i am just to stupid ( the log in part was not the problem) why couldnt they just let me join with the serverlist like every other guy.. i have to enter some stupid url
finally i managed to connect but now i have a new problem^^ everytime i connect it tells me: "wrong protocol version" and i get instant kicked.. and friends arent able to join anymore, too... wtf

The version of the server client you're using is out of date, you'll need to download the latest client from here.

No, I can as well. Just some people have problems connecting to their external IP, internally.

Is the link you should use.
http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=127.0.0.1?port=[2555]
or
http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=12 ... ?port=2555
i am always joining some single player map when i use this link
http://www.minecraft.com/play.jsp?ip=12 ... &port=2555
That will work!
