Hey guys quick question. Every time I try and connect to my server, it immiediatly kicks me saying "You have to login first!", would anyone know the fix?
I already have logged in! I can't connect to servers without logging in.
Ok guys please help me with these problems:first of all the properties file list only has these things in it

no server name or anything also i dont have the link .txt thingy i get random server cant keep up, have you changed the time... ive tried to connect to my server dispite all the errors and it just hangs on connecting D: pleae help
and basicly the stuff i get are ops.txt, server.txt, "world" folder, banned players.txt, banned ip's, and when i activate the server it creates a server.log file please dont ignore this if you dont know just say D:
soory for any spelling mistakes im just nervous.
every time i run my server, i can connect but anyone trying to connect gets either connection timed out, or a bunch of failed to connect errors, ive forwarded ports, closed skype, shut down firewall, nothing works. whats wrong?
i'm pretty sure i have my port(s) forwarded after checking and rechecking multiple times, disabled firewalls, closed skype, everything, i try and login and it just says i connect but then disconnects me for "Bad login" ? then in the server window thing it says 192.168.1.x:xxxxx lost connection, and the port that lost connection isnt even the port that the server is, i dont get whats going on...
Ok guys, I believe i have it all set up correctly, when I go to log in it states that it is actually logging me in, then minecraft crashes with this error...

My problem is the RAM my server is using. How do you dedicate more RAM to the server cause my server is running off of such little RAM that other players instantly lag out when they join.
If you do not have enough RAM on a Windows computer.
Open a new text document, type in: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar save as start.bat (all files) and place in your server folder and start it up.
On a Mac
Open terminal and type 'cd path/to/minecraft/server' without the little ' marks or you can just drag the folder onto the terminal window. Press enter and than type 'java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar' Press enter. If you don't want to have to do this every time you can create a Shell and make it executable if you know how. If you don't, google is your best friend.
For the people who cannot get friends to connect to your servers
Login to your router and see if you have an eternal ip address. I had the same problem with them not being able to connect until I discovered my router was giving me an external of 99.61.199.xxx. If in fact you do have an external, than that is the ip your friends need to use along with the port you have chosen. Hope this helps.
*NOTE* You can change the 1024 to a higher number if you have the RAM available.
Wow
A full thing on how to set the paths,
i wish i found this last winter.
It took me about 4 5 days to find the problem for my maplestory server Rofl xD

Can you also show the command you entered that resulted in this error? What OS?
I got this error when I was following one of the older FAQs on installation. Run the following:
am i doing something wrong cos im not able to get a zip file
No, the old FAQs indicate a zip file, but it doesn't have anything in it except the jar anyway. Just download the latest jar from http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp

ok but i cant find the start server.bat file that the tutorial tells me about on the wiki
Really, you gotta provide some information on what you're trying to do. Are you running Windows, Linux, MacOS? I'll assume since you're looking for a .bat that you're running Windows. Some of the wiki and forum tutorials are getting quite out of date. The one here tells you exactly how to create the .bat file yourself: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutor ... aft_Server
I get this error message whenever I start my server [WARNING] Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? What does this mean and what do I do?
Survival Multi Player (SMP) doesn't have monsters (mobs) - so you seem to be mixing things up a bit. If you are running single player you get mobs. If you are running multiplayer other people can join your server but you don't get mobs. If you are running SMP and you can join your own server then other people can join too, you are just another user. If this is the problem, you are running SMP and you can join your server, then you must have a connectivity issue - firewall or otherwise, between other folks and your server, it isn't minecraft.
I already have logged in! I can't connect to servers without logging in.
Thanks
