I got the first half of this right, I am able to log into a multiplayer server using my internal IP Address. The problem I am having is with the canyouseemyport.org. I followed the windows firewall instructions (windows 7) and everything I did was right, I even deleted it and tried again, but when I go to the open port check tool it says connection refused. Is there something I am doing wrong?
Rizartha, Yes I have done as you said still nothing =\ I guarntee it's going to be some stupid problem, but I have been dicking around with it for 6 hours and can't figure it out Like I said I am able to connect to a multiplayer server by myself via my internal IP address. It's my external IP address that can't read the port that I know is open and allowed through the Windows firewall system.
I have been trying to set up a minecraft server for a week now, following various tutorials, and I have not been able to set it up! I am able to get onto the server using my ipv4 address, but nobody else can access it. I am pretty sure i set up the port forward correctly, so i believe that my firewall it messing with the port. Whenever i get on my windows firewall, it says "These settings are being managed by vendor application McAfee Personal firewall." I have tried allowing the port in mcaffe and windows firewall, but i dont think i have done it right. Does anyone else have windows 7 and McAfee that knows what to do to allow port 25565 on my computer? I have also been wondering if i should put my WAN ip in the port forward instead.
P.S. I am using a buffalo WHR-HP-G300Nwith dd-wrt v24sp2-MULTI
I don't have an "IPv4" address when I type ipconfig.....just "subnet mask", "default gateway", and "ip address".
Do I just pretend the ip address is the "ipv4" and use that instead? Because this is all I get, and the last number in the ip address is different, just like the guide said it would be. I'm on Windows XP 32 bit home edition. NetGear wireless dual band router model WNDR3400.
When ever I type in my default gateway/IP in my browser all I get is a page saying "No Data Recieved, Unable to load the page because the server sent no data". I don't know what to make of this. I tried two others besides Google Chrome which were Safari and Firefox.
I don't know if anyone can help. My computer is a Mac. Yes, I did the step before this one.
If anyone can help that would be great.
For anyone that this might help, you might want to try and bind your internal IP(192.0.0.1 or something like that) to the server.properties and then try and run the server and it if "binds" then try and look at it, if that works then give the internal Ip to your friends
If your using a dynamic, might want to use either a Static IP or point the dynamic IP to some program that will host your ip regardless of what it is (www.noip.com)
I need some help with this. I have Windows and I'm doing everything it says. However, when I go to canyouseeme.org it says "Error: I could not see your service on 69.248.129.146 on port (25565)
Reason: Connection timed out". I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Somebody please help.

Please. Someone help. I really need to know what I'm doing wrong.
I do say that it appears my exquisite router has become less suited for my style. I also have a undeniable cable modem. You see here, it appears that my router has no ports open but I am quite a sad man because I am gorging on the internet as I type so a lovely port or two must be serving my feast. What would you suggest for my unruly problem?
Ok i think this is the place to ask this and this is my first time with this type of this stuff so im a bit of a idiot.
Im having some troubles with this. I cannot seem to get the thing to work, I am on a mac osx lion and followed the instructions and turned off firewall and fowarded the ports. It didn't work and i tried a no-ip solution with the forwarded ports it also did not work. I pinged the no-ip adress i made example.no-ip.org and it seemed to respond positive so the problem must be in the server or ports. On the server.properties i set the port to 25565 and the ip to nothing. localhost works to connect. But my no-ip adress doesn't and neither does my external ip it just says connecting for a very long time and the goes to connecting failed. On a side note i set my macs ip to static 192.168.1.204 to avoid the extra work of going back and editing the port every time it changed, i also have a linux e2500 cisco. I dont know what to do is there something im missing. Help would be very much apreciated and im new to the forums so if im on the wrong topic please send me the right way thanks. -flash5103
Here's my problem
I entered the ports in correctly, but on canyouseeme.org it says the the port can't be seen, because the connection was refused. When my friend tried to connect to my server, i saw that in the security logs in my router menu, it showed that his IP was trying to connect, but it blocked his IP. So how can I make it so friends can get through?

Created a rule for 25565 in Windows firewall
Hello, I just changed ISPs and now I cannot connect to my own server via its URL.
I checked Port Forwarding Tester (yougetsignal.com) and it says:
67.233.214.21
Remote Address
25565 is open on 67.233.214.21.
Now, I haven't changed any of my Windows or Firewall settings than what they were before I changed ISPs, so I am pretty doubtful it is a setting on my computer.
I have updated my IP with my DNS server, and it's pointing in the right place. I can ping myself and verify the port is open using the URL or the IP.
I have a Centurylink 660 series router, and have done the appropriate port forwarding in its settings. Unfortunately, I can only connect to the server if I use my internal LAN IP address for the server (so the server will allow connections).
Somewhere between the router and my PC there's a problem, and that seems to be only cables so I am now at a loss.
*EDIT* Ok, I found out what the problem was. Apparently this particular router has a hard-coded file in it that has a setting that disrupts the kinds of connections Minecraft requires. As such, only the telecom technician can change it through re-coding it.
And since I am on excellent terms with the guy, it was done in 20 minutes. YMMV
I was hosting a server on another computer fine for about a year, portforward went smoothly and everything was running fine. Today I moved my server to my new laptop on the same network, but now it says that the 25565 ports are blocked? It's on the same network so if I try to re-do the PF steps it's already been complete and I've allowed the ports through the firewall (even disabled the firewall) but the ports still aren't going through. What's wrong?
Hey people, i have a port forwarding problem, here's my situation:
me and a couple of friends decided to open up a minecraft server, one of us, i'll call him friend A, decided he'd host; so he did some research, and got it running pretty easy: set up port forwarding to 25565, and uses No-Ip to give us a hostname and refresh his IP which changes every few days or few hours, it varies.
when HE set up his port forwarding it was easy, he has a commonly used modem+router set up with a famous brand router and had no problem finding a specific guide for his specific router model.
but now he's having computer problems and we decided it would be better if i host it.
so he told me what he did and i tried to do the same, BUT (here's where my problem starts) my router's interface is slightly different, its a modem/router combo that my ISP gave me (which i hate, btw) but i got no choice, (its a technicolor 7110. , and in the port forwarding section, this is what i get:
Local IP adress: Local Start Port Local End Port External IP External Start Port External End Port Protocol
and i have no idea what to put in some of those fields to get the port forward to work right,
i'm guessing in LOCAL IP i put my local IP, 192.168.1.X, local start and end ports i'm guessing its the server port: 25565.
but what is my external IP? i cant put my external IP because it changes every so often just like my friend's does, i think, and what about external start/end ports? is that the server port too?
thanks for the help and sorry for the long post, i've been googleing this for 2 days now and i really want to get this server back up... its the first time google has failed me with clear answers.
Hello, I am trying to set up a Minecraft server, but apparently I am especially failing. I have tried everything to get port 25565 to open, but my attempts are futile. Any advise would be greatly appreciated I have looked on you-tube and tried all the videos I've come across but nothing has worked. I have also been to the Server Wiki page and done all that.
P.S. I am using a buffalo WHR-HP-G300N with dd-wrt v24sp2-MULTI
