Sorry for the double post, but I have become extremely agitated. I decided to go onto the main "host" of my network (a mac) and tried running the server... Ports were open. What. The Serious. ... Why were the ports open on the Mac (AND I HAVE THE SAME IP UNDER THE SAME NETWORK!!!) and not on my PC? I am very mad.
It might have to do with some sort of firewall on your computer. In this case I'm completely unsure,
I would be much obliged if someone could assist me with my portforwarding issue. I have a linkys e1200 and have properly portforwarded my router, and I have even added a rule to my bitdefender firewall since i turned off windows firewall. Yet whenever i try to host my server none of my friends can connect. I have given them the proper ip address by going to ipchicken.com and yet my server doesnt even get a connection attempt from them. any advice?
I can't figure out the firewall step for windows port forwarding, i have mcAfee and when i go to the windows firewall, it tells me that "these settings are being controlled by mcAfee firewall" or something like that. Please help me!
i think my router is blocking my port is there anything i should turn off on my router to stop it from blocking it? i have a DIR-655 Dlink router firmware 2.10NR
I been having problem with it since day 1
and no Don't link portforwording.com guides the one for my router guide is not very helpful http://i593.photobuc...77/Untitled.png

If you follow the guide then it should unblock the port...

I'm trying to start a second server on port 25563 but the server says that there is already another server on that port and will not bind to it. The first server is running on port 25565. Does the external IP adress change with what port it is using?
Hello fellow minecraftians!
I too was having A LOT of trouble setting up port forwarding, but my experience in the networking field proved to be enough to fix my issues. I am going to be writing up a tutorial on how to get your server up and running STEP by STEP, WITH PICTURES!, and if your port forwarding doesn't work, I have a solution.
Hello everyone, I'm having a really big issue that I can't resolve. So a few weeks ago I decided to set up a minecraftserver so my little brother and I could play online. So I set up a bukkit server and was able to see it in the server section on multiplayer. I realized that the server was only running from my private IP address and I needed to port forward so my little brother could play with me from outside the state. So I followed some instructions to port forward on a Macbook pro and it worked like a charm, I had a few people from different parts of the state visit my server......So...anyway I set the server to Hardcore, I was working on a maze that i had build with monster spawners and all and decided to test my creation. I completely forgot it was on hardcore and ended up dying on my server....well my server happened to kick me out bc I died on hardcore...and I was band from my own server. Any who I tried to unban my self and it was no use..each time i would log in my server would kick me out and re-ban me. I decided that I was going to make a new server so I deleted everything started fresh with a new minecraft file, craftbukkit files. I set everything the way I had it and I'm getting this problem

For the port forwarding i'm using my internal IP address that is listed on my router and forwarding the port and using 25565 just like above and i get this error

The crazy thing is, every time I delete the port forwarding and take my local ip address off the server properties... and just let it run with my private (internal) ip it runs fine..but only people in my same network can play on it, and not anyone from outside my network.
any Ideas? is it bc I was already running a server on that port with the same IP?...also i did a timeMachine restore on my mac hopping it would fix it but nothing.

Did you even read the guide?
If you follow the guide then it should unblock the port...
Also, make sure your firewall is off.

just finished taking the screenshots and editing them. I just have to upload them and actually write out what I'm doing. So an hour or two maybe.
