After going through every possible step to try and fix the problem, I realised I missed one; my modem was the root of the problem.
As I said above, I could only connect from my local station and not from any external network.
I simply created a portforwarding rule exception in my MODEM's admin page (after retrying and retrying to fix my routeur, which wasn't the issue), which fixed the problem instantly.
External network users can now connect to my network properly.
Why am I the only one having trouble with this!?! It won't let me enter my password correctly, adding extra characters. Is this like a Verison thing? Help me please
Hey everyone! This is my first post on the forums, but I've been playing "Minceraft" (DO NOT correct me on spelling, that is what I call it) for quite awhile. I was wondering if anyone could help me. After following the guide exactly, I used "Can You See Me" to check if my ports are open. I always get the error "No route to host." I believe this may be the reason why my friends get the "cannot reach server" error when they try to connect.
Also, I think the problem may be that I have an ASUS router hooked up to my crappy Verizon one, only to use it for extending the range of the router.
Hopefully someone will respond. THANKZ!

I am really REALLY epic. Really.
Don't expect me to reply to you if you don't quote me!
Can you tell me why my server don't work? You have the configurations there :
And sometimes my ip adress changes in this :
I have a router, BTW.
Thanks for help.
I have the same problem as you. I also added 25565 to inbound and outbound rules, as well as enabling all the Java binary's in the inbound rules. Btw NEVER show your ip address.
And just to be clear, you're checking if the port is closed when the MC server is on?
So I did everything specified however, when I went to the website canyouseeme.org, it couldnt connect. It displayed no route to host and it said my server was online so im not sure whats going on.
I cannot seem to find the router password and username on my router or using your website. I tried surfing the web for help on it but I got nothing after searching for 2 days. My parents don't know it either. I know I may sound silly here but I am truly desperate. Hamachi doesn't work for me either. I have Intel Centrino Wireless N 2230. If anyone has any idea how to find the username and password on this router please tell me. Also I already have tried the methods like resetting the router (Parents wont let me) And tried looking through the manual didn't find a thing. I need help
have you tried : username : admin
password : admin
because the most of the routers jave this deffault username and password
Yes I have. Like I said I have tried everything from google researching, to going into the router manual itself to try and find it. No luck. Does anyone else have this router. I know every step to port forwarding I just cannot find the username and password to do it
I have no Port Triggering because I dont think that matters. If you need any other screenshots I can take them for you.
So this isnt working, my minecraft server will work if I log in using 0.0.0.0 but my friends cant join using my IP address, am i giving them the wrong address or haven't I portforwarded properly? I cant use portforward.com because they dont have my router type.
Any help will be appreciated!
JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR
I have done minecraft server 1, 2 and 3 because each one is different.
1 is TPU/UPD (Or whatever is is) 2 is just TPU and 3 is just UPD
http://www.youtube.com/user/pinkieseb plz sub, and like all my vids! I do live gaming commentary and would happily join a aerver, skype you and do a vid together! I'll also accept maps, mods and challenges to do and record!
I need help I portforwarded successfully and i contacted my ISP and they said the port was open but no one can connect to my minecraft server, the only way i can join is if i use "localhost" please help!
When I try to put 25565 into the port start and end I get a error that says I'm not allowed to set the start and end port as the same number. Any help? (I'm using SMC)
SOLVED!
I have tried EVERYTHING! Literally everything! I can not get people to be able to connect to my server! I am using Tomato Firmware. I have created the rules in windows firewall. I am using Avast Antivirus (Free Version). I have bought the game as have the people trying to connect and they can't get onto my server please help!
As expected, I use my ISPs crappy router as a gateway along with the Tomato router and I had to port forward on both.
So after much research and forum posts I will try looking at my modem and not just the router cause that's the only thing I have yet to try so I guess I didn't try everything. I Will Edit my original post if it is successful!
Hi, I used to be able to port-forward but now I am unable to. I typed in my default gateway address (10.0.0.1, it's Xfinity) and the page loads forever. I've tried on 3 different computers and the webpage just doesn't load. Firefox says "Waiting for 10.0.0.1..." forever. Any idea what's wrong?
Greetings. I'm attempting to setup a server for two users (myself and one other). I first was boggled by the "no data" on the server ui but discovered its a known bug. Checking the logs, my server successfully starts up.
I've checked my Java is up-to-date. I've also added the "PATH" and "CLASSPATH" to my Environment Variables on Computer. This removes the "no internal or external" error. I can now see my Java version.
I've path forwarded on both my personal firewall and my Buffalo Wireless Router. I can confirm that the port 25565 is open via canyouseeme. I have also checked the ports are open via the PFPortChecker program. Both TCP and UDP are open, however there is no return ping?? Maybe this is the issue, no idea.
I am unable to connect to my own server using the Minecraft program (I run that in tandem with the MinecraftServer.exe. I use the external IP found using "what is my IP" and enter that address for "server address."
Here is my log data for my server:

I don't understand the top java lingo but seems the server runs fine. I could truly use some help with this if anyone is still awake (I'm on Japan time). Note, a few months back when I played I was able to connect to other friend's servers, so I know that my being in Japan isn't the cause. I believe I've posted all relevant information and have done basically everything I can locate online to try and troubleshoot this before pestering you folks on the forums.
Thanks for the help and greatly appreciated!
EDIT: I found the solution. The error was in fact hidden in that crap about Java. Apparently from my research the new Minecraft Server doesn't even work... you need to download to server 1.6.4 - there is a link somewhere to locate a safe file on mediafire. Once you get 1.6.4, then you need to do a previous version of the Minecraft under "User Profile" at login. At that point - assuming everything is opened port-wise, the server will work. Really frustrating, there should be a stickied notice that 1.7.5 doesn't even work.
When I try to put 25565 into the port start and end I get a error that says I'm not allowed to set the start and end port as the same number. Any help? (I'm using SMC)
Sorry if this was all ready asked.

SkyEmerald, look above where you enter the Port Range. There is a pulldown called "Public IP Ports". See if you change that option from Port Range to maybe "Specific Port" or something similar. If that is the only option for that pulldown, try unchecking "Enable Port Range" at the bottom of the form. Some routers give an option of a "range" or a "specific" port, I'm guessing yours is like that.
Hi, I have a question. But before I ask it, I do have a lot of knowledge with MineCraft server as I have hosted and maintained plenty.
Anyways, I have this internet modem, every time we turn it off and then back on the IPv4 (private Ip address) changes, which requires me to go into the admin panel and delete the old ip and ports and add in the new ip and ports. I was wondering if it would slow my internet down if I were to add every single IPv4 address and port forward them all in 1 turn, so that I don't have to go back to it over and over again when the private ip address changes.
I hope the question makes sinse.
Here is an Example:
My IPv4 (Private IP address) is 192.168.4.1 and I have the ports 25565 & 8192 forwarded on that IPv4 address, then I restart my router/modem and the IPv4 address changes to 192.168.4.2 . That means all my ports on 192.168.4.1 are pointless cause the ports are pointed to the wrong address. Say if my IPv4 address can change from 192.168.4.(1-9) , Would it slow down my internet or cause problems if I were to port forward every single IPv4 that it can change to, and open the ports 25565 & 8192 on each IPv4, so that I don't have to go back and change it.
i'm hoping this thread can help me. i've hosted my MC server for months on my own IP and i'm finally tired of having to reissue the IP to everyone who plays on my server everytime the IP changes due to blackouts or router issues. I tried doing a DNS forward for my IP (Port 25567 already forwarded(I don't use 25565)) but for some reason the DNS forwarding will not work.
the PC that's my server is running Ubuntu server and is a dedicated MC server, nothing else runs on it. I followed this tutorial including using the DNS service it reccomended: http://techtips.danwantstech.com/post/28134390374/minecraftdynamicdns. it has been at least 16 hours since I assigned the DNS TheValley.dtdns.net and it won't come up on my minecraft as active. as I said the port is already forwarded in my router 25567, I don't know if it's because i'm on the inside of my network and maybe my router won't doo a loopback for IP's, but any help would be appreciated.
i have hosted a server b4 like few months ago with the exact same ports etc..
back then opened up my ports i use (3333), added it to my firewall exceptions both tcp and udp
we have all legit minecraft versions obviously... so cant be an issue there. using my correct internal and external IP adresses.
yet when i use the link in step 2 to see if my ports are open it keeps saying connection timed out.
does anyone know what causes this? i live in belgium and i use a telenet router. nothing changed with hardware since my last server. YET now my server wont work seamingly stuck on getting the ports opened up.
does this sound like i need to contact my ISP?
Ps: using localhost to connect to my own server also doesnt work so there might be a second problem?
Modern routers often have settings to not report open ports. This is a very good security measure as port scanning, which is just like what the site is doing, is often the first method people use to attack. Ports are doors into your network. Do you really want somone poking around to see if any are open? The answer to that is no.
The best way to test your port is to try and connect through it with the server. When connecting to your server, use your external IP rather then your internal or local host ip.
If local host (you should be using 127.0.0.1 instead) doesnt work, then yes you have other issues beyond port forwarding.
