I am running a Vanilla Server at home. 10 down 2 up.

computer specs
8 Gigs of RAM
Intel G620 @2.60 GHz
Win 7 x64

I am getting the error for the last couple of days.

[Warning]Can't Keep up! Did the system time change or is the server overloaded?

I have been running this server with no problems for a couple months now. My assumption is that it is my internet causing the problem but if that was the case, why start now? Does this have something to do with 1.7.4?

This doesn't really have a problem with 1.7.4, it's mostly your memory. I suggest boosting the RAM a bit.

8 Gigs of RAM? I'm allocating 4 GBs to it already. That can't possibly be the issue here.

It's not your RAM or network. It's just something that pops up every once in a while. It has to do with the lag the server is getting or something like that, but to keep it simple. It's not a very big deal really. As long as that error doesn't keep coming up constantly. Then you should be just fine.

If the error persists, try stopping the server for like half and hour and then starting it back up. Also if people are loading a lot of chunks that might cause that error to happen.

It is a big deal because it makes the server unplayable. I was playing one of hypixels maps with a friend so we weren't generating new chunks.

Yes, he is right, it IS a big deal. It basically means the server is lagging, and that no new chunks load and you can't do commands.

Can you PM me a few lines of your server log with the error message in it?

Why PM the log? Just post it on http://pastie.org or something and post link here so we can all help.

It turns out someone was leeching my internets which was causing the massive lag. I have now installed a MAC Filter.

So it was your internet after all?

Yep. The lag has been gone for the most part(minor lag every once in a while) ever since, but no more errors.

Yeah, it really isn't a problem you shouldn't worry about, unless it pops up to frequently.

Your internet connection would not cause those errors.

The internet itself may not, no, but whatever was consuming the internet may have also been consuming the CPU? It's just a guess. We'll just have to wait and see if the OP still has the issue.

Yeah... no.

Ultimately, the reason for the errors was a build up of zombies holding eggs in caves below loaded chunks. After some searching around quickly with an x-ray texture pack, the zombies were kills and the error went away.

Check your connections as well as plug ins. You're getting lag most likely because of overuse of your ISP. Could you post some more details about the errors you're getting?
