So I was working on one of my worlds for my own private server & noticed that there was an update to the 1.6 server which is now 1.7.2 & I downloaded the new one & deleted my old versions of the client & server. When i tried to run the new ones now I get the following for the server when i run it,
Its blank with nothing more then the above in the stats area. When I try to find my server in the client it shows offline. Also I am unable to use any server commands... So what is different in this version that makes it not functional?

Because this is the first day of mc 1.7.2, there will be many glitches. Hopefully by midnight they will fix this
I've found that although my server's GUI is blank, it is still running as i can see in /logs/latest.txt. When using the server.exe i could only open the server a couple of times before attempting to open it didn't work. When i switched to the server.jar i found the GUI worked fine.

I also get this error when starting up the server by both methods, but when using the server.jar it seems to function.

I have the same problem (obviously). What I don't understand is how an error this big could go unnoticed. Surely somebody saw that the GUI was completely and utterly blank before they uploaded it to the minecraft site for everyone to download.
Very true, which is fine for playing on your server or having others play, but it makes managing of a server a real pain. The GUI confirms when you enter commands correctly, suggests ways to enter them if you can't remember how, and gives you an over view of the server, especially with regards to the chat log. Perhaps not the end of the world, but I am none the less surprised no one actually saw this before they released it.
I dont know if anyone else is having this issue, but I'll post here anyway in the hopes i'm not the only one. My server file runs the same way your guys' does in that it doesnt appear to be working but is. I made myself OP in a new world, enabled flight/creative mode/peaceful so i can explore a bit first when i noticed this issue.
Even though i am OP, and it appears that i make these changes to the game mode, the game itself is stuck in survival. I can't change to creative mode even though it tells me its set that way. Flight also doesnt work even though i enabled it. Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT: had a friend join who i OP'd and HE is playing in creative and has flight, but I (the owner of the server, an op too) cannot. Anyone?
Guys! It's not the end of the world! It can't and WON'T interfere with the connection of your server. But not using Hamachi or not port forwarding correctly WILL. All this bug does is not show up the log. It's a display GUI issue.
I'm trying to figure out how does this works because I'm kinda confused. So I made a new Hamachi red and then I copied the first ip. Then I downloaded minecraft_server.1.7.2.exe and opened the server properties or server file. On the servers file I added the hamachi server ip (the one that I copied), and the seed only. Then I opened the minecraft_server.1.7.2.exe and as most of you know, it's blank. But as you say, It wont interfere with the connection of my server. Then I enter my first hamachi ID on Minecraft multiplayer but it says nothing. So I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or there is a problem. Help anyone?

Don't set the server IP when using Hamachi. If you are trying to connect to the server on the same computer as the server is on, use "localhost" or 127.0.0.1 to connect (your computer should treat these as the exact same thing)
To test if Hamachi is working, add the IP listed right above your computer's name.
So you are telling me that on server.properties or server files, instead of adding the hamachi IP I add 127.0.0.1 or ''localhost''? How is this different when adding the hamachi IP? If a friend connects on my hamachi red and I add the ''localhost'' or 127.0.0.1 instead of the hamachi ip, can he connect?

I repeat DO NOT SET THE SERVER'S IP. leave the properties file unaltered.
Everytime I start up the server I get this And no one can connect, but the server continues to run and I can connect to it myself
Yeah, I see that too but it isn't causing the connectivity issue. My server runs just fine with those exact errors. Double check how your connection settings.

Don't set the server IP when using Hamachi. If you are trying to connect to the server on the same computer as the server is on, use "localhost" or 127.0.0.1 to connect (your computer should treat these as the exact same thing)
To test if Hamachi is working, add the IP listed right above your computer's name.

So I just download minecraft_server.1.7.2.exe and run it? But which ip I enter on the multiplayer field?
OTHERS who are in your hamachi network (and also you) will use the IP listed next to your computer's name in the hamachi window
Yeah, I see that too but it isn't causing the connectivity issue. My server runs just fine with those exact errors. Double check how your connection settings.
