who would want to hack a brand new minecraft server. and what would be the reason to hack it? think about it. get a world backup plugin and make sure you backup all the time. ban griefers get a no cheat and a proxy detector plugin blacklist the known minecraft proxy list ( there is a plugin that does this) even white -lits your server. all these things you can do to protect your server. if you dont know how to control hackers/ griefers then you shouldnt have one. even with DMZ on you can get hacked. and as ive said ive owned multiple server i still run quite a few. and not once ever in my 3-4 yrs of playing this game has any of my servers been hacked and ive always set them up the same ways..
[edit] : i lied ok there was this one time just ONCE never again. i got attacked by griefers was my like 2nd or 3rd server. they came on OPPED themselves and worldedited my world i had backups tho so it wasnt a problem .. but the only reason they were able to do this was because my server was in OFFLINE MODE> never again will i ever put a server in offline mode ever.
First off, just turn it on for the time you need to test the server. Turn it on, start the server, check the port with canyouseeme.org and turn DMZ off. It's extremely unlikely that you would be attacked even within the first few weeks of putting DMZ on, though.
And if you want to be even more prepared, make sure that your Windows Firewall is on and maybe even install ZoneAlarm like qtpriest said.

Saw the thread in distress here, want to keep trying SkyRocket? I'm sure we can find out what's going wrong in your setup.
First, some questions. (Sorry if you've posted answers to them already, just post again so we have all of the current information in the same place)
1.) How many routers do you have in your household?
2.) What Internet Service Provider do you have?
3.) Can you tell us what the server's Internal IP Address is (IPv4)
4.) Can you take a picture of your port forward settings?
5.) Can you post a picture of your server.properties file
6.) Can you post a picture of your server's console after you start it up
7.) What operating system are you using?

Now... I don't see any issues here, but I'm a little curious about that 192.168.0.150... This can be normal, but it can also be caused by another router in your home setup (which would explain why you can't connect) Can you show us what your modem looks like? Find a Google image of the modem in your house or something. It's possible that your modem may actually be a router... (A model number will be just fine)
This is a pretty common occurrence, don't worry, we'll figure it out
Second, when the server is running, can another computer connect to the address 192.168.0.150?
That will make sure firewalls aren't in the way.

Alright... I know you probably don't want to hear this, but it still sounds like a firewall issue.
1.) Verify that another computer (like another laptop) can connect to your server using the internal IPv4 address while inside your house.
2.) What virus protection programs do you have installed?
3.) I'm sure you configured your windows firewall already, but what exactly did you do in those steps?

3. I didn't configure my firewall
Sounds like your firewalls might be closed still. Have you allowed both Java and Minecraft through your firewalls?
You'll need to find all of the programs that manage firewalls on your computer. Windows has a built in firewall. Macs have a firewall, but it's usually disabled. Additionally, many virus software packages come with their own firewall. Norton, Symantec, and Kaspersky all have their own firewall, and you'll need to configure them all if you want your server to be reachable.
You'll need to have your goals set to let two things through your firewall:
1.) Java needs to be let through. This usually manifests itself by simply allowing the Java binary through.
2.) the Minecraft server needs to be let through, and you should be able to add a rule to open up its port. Usually you can allow 25565 through your firewall as an inbound and outbound exception to be allowed through.
Users who post here are commonly using Windows Vista or higher. Windows Vista, 7, and 8 all have a similar look when it comes to setting up windows firewall. These two videos should help you allow both Java and the Minecraft Server through a windows firewall: Java
Minecraft Server
If you have additional firewalls, or these steps didn't help you much, let us know what went wrong and where. Did anything change?
Can users on your Local Area Network (LAN) Join your server when it's running?
When you test your server, are you making sure to start your server before using a port checker?
Do you have more than one router in your network? If one router receives internet from another router in your network, then we'll need to configure both routers in order for this to work.
For Norton
To allow access through Norton, follow these steps:
•Open Your Norton Product (Security Suite)
•Click Settings.
•Click Firewall.
•On the Traffic Rules tab, click Add.
•click Allow, then Next
•Choose allow connections from other computers.
—is this a public or private server? [I believe] Private servers require you to add individual computers' to the "list" of what is affected by this; It requires more maintenance than publics. notify me if this is what you want.
if this is for a public server:
•Choose the default setting, Any Computer, then Next
•Choose protocol "TCP and UDP".
•Choose "Only communications that match all types and ports listed below"
•Click Add. Under Filter by, choose "Individually specified ports".
•Under Locality, try choosing "Remote"
•Enter port number 25565
•Select "OK" then "Next"
•Create your own name for this as prompted, such as "Minecraft Server"
•Continue following on-screen instructions

192.168.0.150 is my static IP. 192.168.0.3 WAS my original.
