So me and my friend are trying to play together via LAN server. Ive done this before so I expected it to work, but when I open my world to LAN and he tries to connect it says 'connect refused: connect' and same when he makes it and I try to connect. We are both connected to the same router and we have tried using direct connect in LAN servers as well. Port forwarding hasnt changed anything and messing with the firewall I have no clue what to do. If you could please throw some suggestions or advice my way it would help a ton. Please be descriptive as well, I am not the smartest with all of this kind of stuff.
I've got the same problem here. On one computer, I say "Open to LAN". On the other computer, it scans for LAN worlds. The LAN world shows up. I select it and click "Join Server" and then just get the error:
"Connection refused: connect"
We've done this dozens of times before with no problem. Wirelessly connecting to the same router as usual, one pc is Vista and the other is Win 7. But like I said, we've done it dozens of times before between these two pc's in the same situation. Any ideas out there?
i have a mac and have recently updated to the latest mac mountain lion version, at first i thought it was because of my update to lion, then my brother (who uses windows) tried creating a world and i couldn't join it receiving the same message as you. I'm glad to know i'm not the only having trouble
Step one, get into the cmd by running cmd in Run, or typing cmd in the search bar
Step two, type in ipconfig into cmd
Step three, find the IPv4 adress in the local area network. Do the other one if the first one does not work after trying this.
Step four, turn on Minecraft and open your world to lan.
Step four, take the IP it gives you, and change the 0.0.0.0 to the first four number things in the IPv4 IP, so like if the IPv4 was 100.100.100.100:556565, change the 0.0.0.0 to 100.100.100.100 and keep the last 5 numbers, like :25565 in.
Step four, tell the others on the other computers to direct connect to the new IP that you just made
Setup:
OSX 10.8.2 running 1.4.4 open to LAN over wireless
I've tried the following:
1. Tried client specifying the machine's IP address instead of 0.0.0.0:xxxxx
2. Tried client running 1.4.5 pre-release
3. Tried 'server' and client both running 1.4.5 pre-release
None of these worked, the client still gets the error: connection refused.
Yes me to Really want a fix lan used to work but now it isnt.:steve_rage: when i got a fix first though i used minecraft version 1.7.2 and that fixed it....

So what do I do with this jar file? Running it doesn't do anything, and there isn't really a Minecraft install folder, is there?

Enjoy.
