How's 7 weeks? Tell me what you want me to tell you. This is bad. I have completely wiped out my client. Deleted everything, downloaded everything from minecraft.net and started from the .jars still unable. Not just at my house, anywhere with internet.
Seriously, tell me what you want to know and we can figure this out.
Page 3 has the answers. Case closed. Firewall was on. Though I am running on Mac, not windows. There needs to be a way for the firewall to be on and servers to work. Thank you everyone. Especially mudkip.
I said that the case had already been fixed. And I had already stated that the firewall was always off. All of the solutions were good, but unfortunately none of them could solve the problem. And again, thank you to everyone that has posted a solution here.
I'm having the same problem... i've tried port forwarding and stuff, im using mac btw..
everything that you guys suggested were good but sadly none helped....
You guys honestly felt the need to revive this thread rather than just post your own and request independent support... Seriously... Seriously. Seriously?
Smh.
Regardless of my mood towards what I stated answer me this;
Static IP or Dynamic IP
OS Firewall Enabled or Disabled
Router Firewall Enabled or Disabled
Modem Firewall Enabled or Disabled
DMZ Enabled or Disabled
Hamachi Using or Not
---Post your server.properties
Do the above and I'll do my best to help you out.
Actually I'll just type what I'll say in the next reply anyways.
If you're in dire need of setting up said minecraft server, then make it your first priority. Neutralize everything. Disable all AV/Security programs. Disable all firewalls and privacy managers.
"But 'kip, Why?!?! That'll make me exposed to hackers!"
Valid point, however your main priority here is to be able to use minecraft, Correct?
Steps here are;
1)Disable everything that would block it. Which includes what I stated above
2)Ensure people can connect and the server is setup properly
3)Re-enable everything disabled, ONE at a time, determining the problem(s).
From then on listing out the problems blocking your connection you can find the solutions better than just saying "It doesn't work". Knowing your OS firewall and your AV software somehow block the connection, figured out by trial and error, narrows down your problems to the firewall and AV software. Which you then narrow down to the solutions such as;
Problem; OS firewall blocks connection
Solution; Allow Java through. Allow the proper ports to be open. Or permanently disable the firewall.
This makes things much simpler for everyone. And though it takes more time than I'm sure you'd like to spend, It's a lot more efficient to just get it done right the first time than randomly guess what the problem is and hope its right/you can fix it.
guys, the problem has been fixed. If you want to get some help, read through this thread and see whether anything helps, if not, create your own thread for help.

Try connecting to your IPv4 Address
Try connecting to your Default Gateway
I Have a "Mac" so i cant do the windows key or anything.
That's definitely something you should've mentioned then lol.
Its whatever your local IP is.
I can't recall if its your IPv4 address or your gateway, though I believe its your gateway.
Look up how to get your IPv4 address and your internet gateway on your Mac and you'll get the answer to your question.
Also, posting your OWN thread requesting help is a whole lot more helpful and likely to get a response than reviving a thread that died out long ago.
Same thing happened to me today. Before, I could log on with my friends, and now I can't log on at all. I use a separate computer to play Minecraft and the server. I checked my port forwarding and IP and they all matched, and I couldn't get it to start. I also tried changing ports and using internal and external IPs, but it never worked.

Same problem as Pigeon_Troll, my firend's server was working fine and we were playing fine for about a week. The radomly yesterday I couldn't join her server and we can't get this to work. According to her she did the port fowarding thing (Sorry I don't know much about computers), her IP is the same, and me and her turned off our firewalls.
ive been having simular problems with my server, i dont know what im doing wrong but i think its becuase it has "LAN mode" on. HOW DO I TURN IT OFF??????
It has been over 3 months and people are still posting on my thread. Matt, LAN, is for singleplayer so other people that are in the same network as you can join your singleplayer world, it is NOT a server, for that you have to download the server, portforward or rent one, or use hamachi. geod make sure you HAVE portforwarded your server or it will not work. There are tutorials everywhere on the internet if you want one. Or you can tell me your router model and let me babysit you through it. Same thing applies to matt. SO STOP POSTING ON HERE.
Seriously, tell me what you want to know and we can figure this out.

Hope someone finds a solution soon
