I get this problem when trying to join servers. I've tried many server IP's from http://minecraftservers.org/. All of them used to work, but after I downloaded the latest snapshot it won't. I've reset all my firewall settings to make sure of that, and my buffers are sett to 512 as some sugested. I've scrolled trough some sites looking for an answer but can't find anything. Help?
More commonly, it is caused by writing to a connection that the other end has already closed normally. In other words an application protocol error." (
That can probably be interpreted as the server either being overloaded, your computer reading the incoming data too slowly, or (most likely) Minecraft screwing the server protocol up.
Assuming that the last explanation is correct, that means that there is problem in this version of Minecraft.. And we will have to wait for the next one..

I built a system from scratch running Lubuntu (Ubuntu) 12.04 64x with Java 7 64x 4GB ram and ran into the error of this topic. What I did to get things to working was to downgrade to the stable version of 1.2.5 and got no errors. Everything I loaded 1.3.2-R0.2 and above gave the error. I also tried 1.3.1-R0.1 and the error came up again. I have some more testing to do, but at least for now I know what version I can run without problems
I have tried all the examples in this thread, and my minecraft still does not work... =(
I played on the server YESTERDAY, and I had the same problem for a while then too, but suddenly i stopped getting kicked and I could play happily... Why is this happening?!
And now after testing the snappshot 25 fix, my minecraft got outdated...
