Previously I have had no issue with the Nintendo Switch port of the game outside of the occasional lag spike or small glitch. However recently my ability to play with friends has stopped working entirely. I've gone through a handful of troubleshooting threads, other forums, that sort of thing - but have yet to find a solution. While local play works just fine, online play does not. I cannot join friends worlds, nor can they join mine.
If they try to join mine (and visa versa) they say the game lags to the point that it is unplayable, and sometimes they get stuck on a loading screen forever. Sometimes they say the world doesn't even load at all/fully/properly upon trying to join my world. On my screen(and visa versa) their characters do not move. At all. They simply spawn in and sit there until they leave the game. It is particularly frustrating and confusing because I was able to play fine in the past - even with a group of people all in the same world. I still have that world, and now people cannot join it either. Now I cannot allow even one person to join my worlds, and I could not even join a world via online play with someone who was in the same room as I unless I did so via local play. So I am just not sure what to do outside of what I have already tried.
Recently Charter came out to replace a part in the "pole" in our area, as it was having trouble. This improved our internet speed, connectivity, etc - but the issues started happening AFTER this was done - however I can't remember how soon after. Could that have something to do with it?
So far I have tried these solutions (sometimes multiple times) with no luck:
Restarting the game or having my friend restart theirs
Checking our wifi connections for connectivity issues
Restarting internet routers
Testing the connection on the Nintendo Switch itself
Disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting again
Switching from Online to Local and back
Signing in and out of my Microsoft/Nintendo account
Restarting the entire Switch console
Playing in handheld mode as well as docked
Turning the servers multiplayer settings on and off
Inviting friends or allowing them to hop in on their own
Any help is very much appreciated as I simply have no idea what else to try.
Anywhere from 60-80 MBPS usually for download, and 5-7 for upload usually. Normally we don't have any issues whatsoever, and haven't until now. Our internet speed/provider hasn't changed in years. We didn't start having problems until the newer Minecraft updates as far as we can tell.
