So my wife and I have been merrily playing on a local LAN server for months.
Last week she started getting 'unable to connect to world' when trying to join the server running on my PC.
She can still ping my PC however. We're on the same local wired (not wireless) home network 192.168.20.x
I've trawled the internet and have tried every listed possible solution from the first 5 pages of Google on a variety of search terms related to 'unable to connect to world' 'windows 10' and 'lan'.
I've tried on both PCs;
Flushing DNS, and renewing DHCP leases
Rebooting the PCs and the router
Running the windows network troubleshooter
Port forwarding 19132 on the router
Disabling antivirus
Allowing the app through Windows Defender Firewall
Turning off the Windows Defender Firewall
Directly connecting to the IP of the PC running the server
Enabling 'you can join multiplayer games' in the Xbox/windows in our Xbox/Microsoft account settings
Ensuring all our Windows updates are current
Ensuring Minecraft is updated to latest ver
Resetting Minecraft to default settings
Completely reinstalling Minecraft on her PC
Completely reinstalling the server on my PC
Resetting Internet Explorer settings (that one baffled me, but whatever i'm getting desperate)
I'm at the end of my rope here people.
I feel like something unrelated to minecraft did an auto-update and has altered something that prevents her minecraft client connecting to the server on mine.
The most annoying thing is that it's inconsistent.
It was fine one day, then the error happened. Then after a 'have you tried turning it off an on again' it worked and we played just fine. Then the next day it came back and I began some of the above troubleshooting.
I got it to work only one more time, just after I had done the port forwarding on the router. Immediately after that however I logged out and tried again, and the error came back.
I'm about ready to give up, which sucks coz the wife and I have really been enjoying our time playing together. It's rare we find a game we both enjoy

Any help appreciated.
I was having connection issues with mine also and I ended up disabling IPv6 on the server. Now I can connect.
