Hello, I have switched over to the better together update on the xbox one. Now the family members under my xbox live account can't access the skins/Realm unless I log into the world and they enter as additional player( 2nd player split screen)
I have my wife under my xbox live account as a family member but she is unable to access the Realm "Can't connect to realms right now. please try again later". And the skin/text packages we have says she has to purchase them. Even if I log in, same issue. The only solution is if I join the world, then she can enter as 2nd player and access them.
I was hoping that the better together update would finally be the solution to having to log certain characters in on the xbox to access the world you are all playing on. Can I do something so my family can access this stuff without having me logged into the world??
Same exact problem pretty much. Did the "better together" update. I have 2 accounts setup. Mine, and my wife's. When my wife logs into her side on our Xbox one s, under the play menu it just says "realms is unavailable" or something like that. Not very happy with my realms purchase if I can't even use it for what we wanted to do with it. I was hoping to have my wife play on the Xbox, while I'm on the windows 10 edition on my PC.

Having the same issue here with my wife's and my account. All friends with only one gold account on their xbox one seem to have same issue even though set up for sharing. Have played on shared games of minecraft before on the xbone with no troubles accessing the packs I have bought, but now theu are all locked for her and cannot connect to realms or see that our friends are playing. Invite has been reissued but no effect.
I'm having the same issue. When 2.1 landed it worked fine for a couple days and now my wife can't access the Realm. A message displays "We are unable to connect to realms right now." When I login to my account on the XBOX ONE I can see the realm and join it with no problems. If I login to my wife's account on my WIndows 10 machine I can also see the Realm and play it.
The issue is only with my wife's account on the XBOX ONE. I even signed her up for Gold access and that still didn't fix the issue.
The only thing that seems to work is if I do a hard reset on the xbox...every single time I, (the wife), want to play in the realm while my husband isn't home.
Same problem for me still. Its been 3 days. Was able to get it working yesterday, but today back to same problem. I did nothing to fix it yesterday, it just started working. Thought they fixed it. Nope! Today same problem from day 1. Payed good money specifically for this purpose. Minecraft is about the only game we play, and we can't even do that! I'm pissed!
It worked for us for about 20 minutes a couple days ago then the wife signed out to sign me in to get her inventory and when she went to log back in with her account she got the Realms not available message.
As a work around I'm playing under her account on Windows 10 and she's playing under my account on XBOX ONE.
Same here. I have bought many skins, packs, etc.. under the Xbox One edition that my kids use. They were set up as family accounts under my Gold account. No issues at all with the Xbox One edition. They can`t use them under `Better Together`, prompting them to purchase them. It's a little frustrating and I won't be purchasing any in game content until this is fixed. What this tells me is that this version of Minecraft has 0 concept of family accounts, and I suspect that it's not going to be an easy fix.
I'm having this same problem as well. My account, the main account works fine, but all my kid's accounts that share my gold account are unable to connect to the in game store, realms and when playing their own worlds, in the pause menu you can see it says they are not connected to xbox live, when indeed they are. Some observations I have:
1. When this happens I notice as they are starting up the game after the splash screen while trying to sync data the screen flashes black for a moment.
2. If I cold start the Xbox One, and they log in to their first they can get into realms no problem, but once they quit minecraft they are no longer able to get back in. Kind of points to some kind of weird cache issue I would think.
All of this works perfectly fine on their Windows 10 PC and Kindle Fires, they can get into realms, in game store, and play multiplayer on their worlds.
Hoping for a resolution soon as It's kind of a pain. I just treated my kids to the limited edition Minecraft themed Xbox One (it was more for me haha) so it's rather disappointing that the themed game is having issues....
I am happy to report that after applying the Xbox One Fall Update that came out today for the console (not a game update, the system update!) it seems to have somehow fixed the ability to join realms in Minecraft when using sub accounts!
I hope the above from "peterswolf" is true. Too bad I can't test this for sure now as I cancelled my realm subscription do to the amount of time it took for some tech monkey to get on this issue. Can anyone else confirm this for me before I go and pay for another month?
You must use a different account to play multiplayer. If you bought something, you can sign in into the account. But if you want to play together, such as Realms or public servers, pls use a different account. You can set up a free LAN network servers up to 8 people but still need different accounts.
Have minecraft and DLC's on the parent account and kids have 2 child accounts so they can play it also. Using the Minecraft for Xbox one version everything works fine, all accounts have access to the game and DLC. Using the Better Together version only the parent account can access the DLC, child accounts cannot. I don't really care about online play but the kids like the DLC's, would be willing to just stick with the "For Xbox One" version but it constantly pops up the stupid new version message whenever starting a new game and of course the default is to go and download it. The download in the store does not recognize the Xbox One version on the child accounts so it wants another $25 to download the full version. The kids are of course blocked from making purchases but since Microsoft no longer has the ability to block the kids from downloading entirely the free version ends up getting installed.
One option is to take the xbox off line completely, which prevents the message from coming but it just seems that there should be a better way, like an option to not show the upgrade message again or just make the DLC's work on all accounts for the Better Together version.
Similar problem...Purchased 4 new worlds Wildlife:Savanna; The Cratoe; Dinosaur Island; and Redstone Mansion. All worlds show up as selectable when I login on Xbox One S console, but if only my registered grandsons login so they can play on the one 50" tv split screen, none of the new purchased worlds show up. After consult with Microsoft they only could come up with that this Xbox must be set as the "home" console for sharing to work. Well, it is setup properly as the home console. The tech then gave up and said contact Mojang for any sharing issues with game addins. An email to Mojang only sent me to Microsoft in the first place. Around and around and around...no solution. I think the better together update needs another update, you agree?
I just bough a Xbox one for my kids. Got minecraft and make in game purchase with my "profile". Then my kids couldnt acces what I just purchase. I mean I can share the entire game np with all my kids but not the DLC content ?
Of course no way to talk to a human when I try to get customer support.

Same exact issue here. I share my Gold account with my family. My son can't play Minecraft online using my shared Gold account.
Same problem here. I can only open my realm if I switch to my Xbox profile and launch Minecraft 1.2 with better together update.
If I switch to my son's Xbox profile it says "Cannot connect to realms right now".
And I just renewed my realms and purchased XBox live gold once the Better together update was release so I can play with my kids.
This is really not cool.
I paid money after all for both the XBox live Gold and the realm specifically for this.
Not cool at all.
Same exact problem here! It sucks!!!

Add me to this list!! We have 85 purchases as a family and they are split between my Hubby, myself and my DD that is in the textures and the skins.
Also we cannot play on servers together like we did on Battle would LOVE to see a resolution to that also.

You can set up family accounts in Xbox Live. See https://minecraft.net/en-us/servers/ and https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-multiplayer-server-safety
