We are having the same problem.. Miss10 has a galaxy tabA & hers upgraded perfectly (with her very excited about all the new stuff). Miss4 has a Lenovo (?) and hers upgraded too. Upgrading Mr5 is doing the exact same thing you describe (on an older Toshiba Tab). I thought it may be the flash player & am still trying to figure out if it is. I hope someone can come up with a solution soon because the look on Mr5's face was utter devastation. He's only been into MC for about a month.
.MCPE 0-15-0 also goes to black screen on startup on two devices. Toshiba AT100 & Samaung GT P7500. Completely reset Samsung @ reinstalled minecraft but install did not even create mahjon folder in Games folder. Hope support fix this soon or rollback to previous version. School holidayssoon & looking after grandkids. Samsung specs attached.
Unfortunately our problem is the app does not even start so we cannot create any worlds. We just get a black screen for about 20sec then returns to desktop. I would be very upset if could not use my existing world as it has taken years to create.I suspectyou have a different problem with 0-15-0.as I doubt they would make old worlds unusable.
I thought I'd share a little. I have two tablets, both identical. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. One is on the latest Samsung update, Tablet1, the other is one update behind, Tablet2 We upgraded MC on Tablet2 from 0.13.x to 0.15.01 and it worked perfectly. Tablet1 had 0.14.3 (and the latest Samsung update, and 0.15.0.1 won't load. Tried everything short of resetting to factory defaults. That would probably work, but we'd lose everything.
Conclusion: it's not the worlds or the hardware necesarily, with two identical machines here it's the system software update that is different. We'll try a few more things and see.
Update: Two Tablets exactly the same, one took the update, one didn't.
I went on to one of my other machines and did a backup of the 0.14.3 APK to a cloud drive.
I uninstalled the 0.15.x and installed the old version. All of the worlds are still there, and the older version works fine. I already submitted a report for the error so we'll keep using the old version until this gets fixed.
Long story short, backup before you try anything new, that's been the golden rule of technology for the last 26 years, and it's still true today. Good thing we had a backup of the purchased APK, eh?
Minecraft just released an update but I still can't get it to start. Not willing to update on one of my devices which is still working just in case it stops as well. It would be appreciated if they could comment on this forum to indicate they are aware of the problem & are attempting to resolve it.
