I've been working on a large set of caverns, carving them out and lighting them, and the mobs haven't stopped spawning. In fact, it seems to be getting worse. It's almost as if they're appearing in the darkest area within reach, even if that would normally be too bright. And that as I've been lighting all the corners, the 'dark' areas are now in the middle of rooms away from the corners. It could just be a perception error on my part, in that it just seems like it is and they're still spawning on the edges and tracking me down. I can't prove it's happening.
The only potential evidence I have is, a zombie spawned in this room:
It's a 2x2 room, with a bed, a torch, and a water source leading down (the exit). Above the water source is a dark vertical shaft leading to the surface. Possible it spawned in midair, and dropped down into the water. Also possible it's in the chicken pond at the top of the shaft and got pushed down into the air and fell. Or, it spawned into a lit room. Choose your impossible option.
More evidence for *something* happening. I went to go into my bedroom in a house; a closed 4x5 room with two (2) Glowstone blocks in it, and there was a Creeper and a Spider sitting on the bed. A glitch of some sort is happening, I'm pretty sure they shouldn't spawn in the light levels in that room.
