Hey everyone. I've been playing on my XBOX and notice a lot of lag, especially in the way of my frames per second. I dont know why this might be and how I might remedy it. Any suggestions or ideas please?
One other thing, is it likes to freeze up momentarily while switching between texture packs. Does that have anything to do with this??
For the most part, reducing FPS-type lag as a player is a matter of decreasing things that tend to draw more processing power. Although I believe 4J have been doing their best to optimize how the game utilizes the console, Minecraft in general demands a surprising amount of processing power and on a small, older system like the Xbox 360, it's sort of running at or near "redline" much of the time. Known culprits are things like redstone devices turning on and off (which requires the game to deliver a lot of lighting updates) and having a lot of mobs in a limited areas (so they are all loaded and active at once). Another culprit that has been identified as causing freezes are maps in item frames. Using the KISS principle wherever you can (i.e. Keep It Simple, Stupid) is generally a good strategy for keeping the lag down. For the redstone issue, burying it so that the game doesn't have to do the lighting updates seems to help.
If you're playing online, your internet setup can also be a factor in taxing the processing power of the system. When Minecraft is played online, it sends a lot of data back and forth between the host console and other consoles playing in the same world.
From a hardware standpoint, keeping your Xbox console well maintained (i.e. clean and dust free and cool) helps it to work at its best for all games.

Not much else you can do.
