Ever since the 2nd to last update to Minecraft for Xbox, I have been experiencing a truly annoying issue, that I believe to be a glitch. I've tried searching google multiple times to see if anyone else is experiencing it, but I can't find anyone else with the same issue, I've even tried contacting 4J Studios directly through Twitter, and they seem to reply to everyone but me.
I am currently building a huge city on a super flat world in creative mode. The city is coming along nicely but this one specific issue is causing the biggest frustrations I've ever had with this game, and while it may seem minor, it's really putting a hindrance on the vision I have for my city, and this never happened prior to the update where enchanting was implemented, I believe that was TU7 if I'm not mistaken.
I know I keep ranting, My apologies, just had to give you the full setting and whatnot, anyways the issue is Animal Spawning. I understand that animals in this game spawn wherever there is grass, but its getting to the point now where if I even have 1 block of grass in any area, dozens of animals will spawn in that one block of grass and overcrowd whatever area they're in. You'd think that the simple answer would be to just remove the grass but there are some parts of this city that require grass for functionality and aesthetics (Parks, natural areas, etc), so I can't just remove all the grass in hopes of removing the animals.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a few animals (Though I really wish 4J Studios would allow the option to disable them in Creative Mode, building a city and having it overrun with animals isn't exactly realistic), but when I'm getting over 20 animals spawning on a tiny patch of grass so much so that they are bouncing off each other and cant even move, then that's a problem.
For instance, here I have an outside patio of an art museum/restaurant , the outside is an enclosed natural area with vines and grass, a garden area if you will. It should be a very small empty opening enclosed with a pleasing look…instead, I get this (pictured below):
NOTE: I did not lure the animals here, nor were any doors or walls open to allow access. They literally spawned just like that, while it was enclosed.
Now can you really look at that, and say thats expected behavior? This is just a small section of where its happening, its happening in my parks, inside buildings completely enclosed that I havent fixed the floors in just yet, it even happened on a 2x2 patch of grass surrounded in fence posts with a picture above it!
This is to the point of getting ridiculo us and I dont know how to fix it.
Any ideas other than "Get rid of the grass" would be greatly
I'm sure 4J Studios will get the glitch fixed. There's a thread (Click here ) dedicated to glitches for the game. Check to see if it's on the list. If it is, it will most likely get fixed.
I've scoured that list multiple times, its not on the list. And google searching animal spawning glitch 99% of the time leads to people having issues with not enough animals spawning, id kill to have that issue, so much better than too many animals. I cant find anyone with the same issue but I know its not something I did to cause it.
It's not just you. My roommate and I are having that exact same problem on our Xbox. Our superflat amusement park map is currently unusable because all of the enclosed areas are full of animals, from the rides to the concession stands. It even messed up my carefully sorted petting zoo. (Have you ever tried to lure just one species into a specific pen with wheat when there are literally herds of animals all around? It's tricky.) It's really annoing, I hope they fix it soon.
Yeah, for that picture above I ended up using green wool, but it would look so much better with grass, natural like it should be. And I dont think anyone should have to take the time to replace an entire 1024x1024 superflat world with green wool lol. I need grass in this city, but not at the expense of 8,000 animals spawning per grass block. I was hoping 4J would have addressed the issue in the latest update, but alas…nothing.
I really think 4J should give the option to remove animals completely in creative. Like Animals On/Off. Same goes with the rain. I hate the rain in this game. it lasts sometimes upwards of a week in game time. If 4J gave the options to Disable Rain and Animals when building a map I, and I'm sure many others would be extremely happy.
Animals only spawn on grass blocks so I'm assuming you don't have a lot of grass in that world? If this is the biggest patch you have that's probably what caused it
The entire superflat world is grass. So theres a ton of grass. It only began occuring after TU7 patch, which I read had some changes in animal spawning coding but this shouldnt be happening and no one has addressed it.
Animlas spawn randomly when you are within 32 blocks of that area. They also despawn randomly if you move more than 32 blocks away AND they can move more than 20 blocks.
It looks as though your 'pen' is about 17 blocks long? This means that they will not be able to despawn. An intended feature that was added/fixed in a recent update. This is how we can keep animals in pens when we go mining.
What is happening to you, is supposed to happen.
It seems that you will never get rid of those animals, unless you make your 'pen' slightly bigger. More than 20 blocks long/wide.
Make your 'pen' bigger, and go for a long walk. They will vanish. Or most of them should.
Or just use astroturf.
Also, I agree with the rain/animals toggle on creative.

The option to turn of animal spawning would be great, but until then you could use the passive mob limitations as a workaround.
Choose an area, usually near the edge of your map then dig a series of pits deep enough that animals cannot get out and small enough that they won't despawn (I usually go with 15x15)
Spam eggs into a pit until no more baby chickens pop out to get things started
Use wheat to lure as many nearby animals as possible into your pits while trying to keep animals of the same type together
Breed them, kill any "wild" passive mobs you come across while building then rush back to your "farm" and...
Repeat 2 and 4 until eventually you'll hit the map limits and no more passive mobs can spawn on the map
Wall off the area(s) around your pits and put a nice facade around the area(s) so it just looks like any other building(s) in your city
Im haveing the same probably I thought it was normal at first but then they kept comeing it happens on the worlds I started after the update Im not sure if its on purpose or not
I think I have figured this out, it seems I was facing the same exact issue on my survival island, I would go mining, come back up for a quick break and re-stocking, and there would be TONS of animals all over (it was nice because I was able to farm about 5 stacks of food :} yet the sad part is this no longer happens. As I decided to go and explore the entire map (I have OCD so I just HAD to fill the entire map up) I noticed now that I rarely get animals to spawn, even though there is barely any other grass land in my seed (about 3 other small islands) I think that is what stopped it. If you have a super flat world and you only have a portion discovered and within that portion there is grass, that is where they will always be spawning. Give it a try, fly around and fill the map up, you will notice a huge loss in animal spawns. Let me know if it works for you, because after filing my map my animals barely spawn now.
I'm having problems with my flat world where I'm making my maze and animals keep entering into the maze through the entrance... I've fenced out the area ao that they will not spawn near the entrance of the maze but for some odd reason they keep spawning in the same area... I wish there was a animal "off" option.
I don't know if this is even a big issue cause every time I load my main survival map animals are everywhere in the area where I last saved and don't animals spawn more in a superflat world since there is no terrian to keep animals at bay and out of your stuff

If you want to prevent animals from spawning within a fenced area, just be sure to remove all the grass inside the fenced area. I use this tactic to keep animals out of my gardens all the time. If there is not a single grass block inside the fence, no animals will spawn there.
i have the same problem, and maybe a cause of the problem. back in tu5 (when creative mode was added) there was a bug that almost no animals would spawn in anyone's world, it was bad enough that me and a friend had to get wool from village lamp posts, so in tu6 they fixed the coding that had to do with animal generation. what i think happened is that someone was screwing around with the coding after tu6 was released and no-one at 4j ever caught it and microsoft never payed attention in cert testing.
im having trouble with wolves spawning where ever i am and if i start a new world it happens again how do i fix it? its getting annoying
Wolves only spawn in forest and taiga biomes, so it must be that you have a preference for living in or very near to these particular two biomes. If you generate a world that is mostly plains and locate your base more than 144 blocks away from the forest and taige biomes, you will see very few wolves. ( I know this first hand since I have a personal preference for wide open spaces. I seldom build in or near heavily treed areas... and I don't usually see very many wolves at all in my worlds.
It's still just as bad in this latest update. Doesnt look like its going to be fixed anytime soon.
I have a movie studio inside my city I'm creating, I made a movie set in the movie studio that is like a forest, a couple blocks of grass and dirt, a few trees. Within minutes there was at least 10 cows and sheep walking around crowded inside it.
It's ridiculous.
They should have the option to remove animals in creative mode, as well as rain and night/day cycles. You can remove rain and animals in the PC version, why not let us have that option also.
