Hey guys. I'm new on the forums, but I know that people in a forum tend to get annoyed when someone starts a thread without first searching to see if it exists. As far as I can tell, no one else has had this problem or at least has not posted about it.
I just recently purchased Minecraft Pocket Edition on my Nexus 7 tablet, and I wanted to install a texture pack on it. I read that you are supposed to use an app called "Pocketool Free" from the Google Play Store.
So I installed that app, and followed the instructions through. I went to "Install Downloaded Content" and clicked on the file I wanted to install. Then I went to Took Kit>Texture Pack and long pressed the texture pack I wanted to install. It gave me a pop up with a button that said "Use". I pressed use. Then I went to the Options menu and pressed "Apply Changes". It uninstalled Minecraft Pocket Edition, and gave me a pop up asking if I wanted to replace the app with all my information saved. I agreed. But when the new app was installing, it gave me an error and stopped.
The app wasn't installed. I tried reinstalling Minecraft Pocket Edition, but it gives me this message:
Error
Unknown error code during application install. "-24"
Any thoughts on what I should do, short of resetting my Android tablet? Thanks in advance.
I had this same problem. Just uninstall Pocketool, reboot your Nexus 7, and then Minecraft should re-install normally. I haven't gotten any mods to work though

Try deleting the pockettool cached data or the pockettool folder, reinstalling the original Mcpe apk file, and then trying again.
all you need to do is restart the tablet to get minecraft to reinstall from market however i have had the same issue and have been unable to get any mods to work. if you have any luck please let me know and i will do the same.

I had this same problem when I installed CyanogenMod on my galaxy s3. It's Android Jelly Bean's new file system, it has some minor issues with minecraft pocket edition. All you have to do is wipe your cache partition. I have a rooted device with clockworkmod, but you still have the default android recovery which I believe has this too. So all you have to do is turn off your phone, then press volume up, power, and home button. Which I think your phone has. If not google how to get into recovery mode on nexus 7. Once you're there all you have to do is go to "Wipe Cache Partition" now all it does is clear unneeded app files, but doesn't get rid of any pocket edition worlds. I'm assuming this happened since you tried using pocket tool, which at the moment, is NOT compatible with jelly bean's new file system. Anyway, scroll down with volume keys and wipe cache partition, select yes. Then go to "Reboot System Now" now when it restarts it will be doing something to clean up all your apps. But nothing is reset, and nothing is removed. So don't worry. And now go install Pocket Edition from google play and do not try using pocket tool I tried everything it does not work, just wait until joseph (snowbound) makes it compatible with android jelly bean. Your welcome.
Once it's compatible with jelly bean, don't get an iDevice. Download Ultimate Tool Kit for MCPE. It has over 15 mods, including no fog, sprint, tall grass, more items, edit inventory with Pocket Inv Editor, and smooth lighting, super jump, and more. Stay with android. You can even choose over 10 texture packs, over 30 maps with Ultimate Tool Kit. And you can download your actual Minecraft skin. And the water on iDevices is wrongly textured, the sounds are badly recorded and mostly wrong, it's very buggy as of 4s and 4. Not on iPhone 5 so far. And no mods. So stay with android.
I have a problem similar to this. It's not the same, but its annoying. It sais its not compatible with my device. Why is this? If someone can help me it would be gladly appreciated.
I am having the same problem, but I don't want to reboot because of all my songs, I paid a lot of money for them.
Is there a free way to help this ?? Let me know, I did not pay £6 for nothing.
Bro, I've had this problem too. Its actually caused by latest android version: 4.2.x. now I couldn't live without mods(and some other apps I had weren't supported with the new version) so I rooted, and downgrade to 4.1.x and re-rooted and now I have everything I wanted and more(rooting is awesome, and I didn't know what I could do with it b4 rooting)Just be sure that if you downgrade, you should back everything up(but I just reinstalled all my stuff no problem).
Also one more thing: there's an alternative fix... just do factory reset.(it'll delete everything+you still can't install mods so its not reccomended)
Buying an iDevice is a waste-of-money. I recommend an Nexus 7 tablet, I already have a Nexus 7, and -24 error code comes up. But don't buy a iDevice yet! Reboot your Nexus 7. I didn't because I don't feel like it.

Sounds like a problem with Minecraft itself.
I had this problem once, and I fixed it easily. The cause of the problem when I had it, is the definition of the Texture Pack. It was too high for my Android Device to handle, therefore it is unable to download the application.
As somebody else who replied to this thread said, simply uninstall PocketTool, then try reinstalling Minecraft: Pocket Edition.
If the problem still occurs, install a free application: ASTRO File Manager. Once installed, navigate to the downloads folder in the SD Card. Delete the Texture Pack, and once again attempt the reinstallation of Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

It might be an Android problem. With Apple you can easily edit your Minecraft PE stuff without some confusing program.
Well if your jailbreak your iDevice (which is easy as fudge) you can get iFile and change your skin and texture pack no problem. And get iMCPEdit
Make sure you check it again when you're done.
Try deleting the pockettool cached data or the pockettool folder, reinstalling the original Mcpe apk file, and then trying again.
