So I'm brand new, HUZZAH!! I'm loving MCPE! From what I've read there is no way to play online yet for me? Any info would be appreciated! I'm running iOS with mcpe .4.0
I appreciate you using the correct section, however this has been discussed multiple times, and using the search would turn it up fairly easily.
Welcome to Minecraft forums and Pocket Edition though!
To join iOS, you must have a jailbroken device. If this is true, then continue to the next step.
You need to go to Cydia and install the source: http://cydia.myrepospace.com/siris/ Then, go to search and look for MCPE Patch and install that. Next, launch the app and go to the Multiplayer Tab Finally, type in any server name and the hosts IP that you want to join and click "Add to list" tap the server you want to play on (a check will appear) and tap on "Patch Selected"
If you open your minecraft app and go to Join Game, the server should appear if it is indeed online.
Ive read that... Was hoping for a possible other avenue... Is there anyway that that could screw up my iphone 5? I can mess with comps all day but I dont know squat about modding a phone.

Which iDevice do you have? It can't be the Iphone 5.
Ahh crap, Ive been researching crap and what not about the 5. I have the 4S... apparently I need to slow down.
Nobody knows anything for sure about the iPhone 5 except for Apple.
I own a 4S as well, and this all works flawlessly on it.
I can tell you right now that jailbreaking and any kind of mods won't be available for the iPhone 5 for a few months (just like what happened to the 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, iPads, iTouches, etc.
It takes time and since Apples uses new technology with each iDevice update, the jailbreaking community needs a lot of time to study it and figure out how to enable tethering and untethered jailbreaking.
Yeah I'm not terribly worried about updating, the 4S is crazy fast enough for a smart phone. I just hate the idea of losing my phone by modding it... I really dont know what I'm doing and cant afford to replace it. (not jailbroke yet obviously)

OH and they are actually releasing it very soon. Its fact that it will have a larger screen and be thinner, with a different cable jack setup. Im an Apple fanboy but thats kind of shisety. I watch a lot of developers podcasts on Apple TV.

How come your not allowed? Other than the price...?
Well, Im not an adult, so its my parents decision. True, its expensive, but something better then my dieing, block phone would be nice.
Back on topic: You can watch various videos on how to jailbreak your device. If you don't feel comfortable, then don't do it.
Aside from that, I have already answered your question, so I am done here.

Ahh, yeah I gotcha. Well thanks for the help so far I'll check back in tomorrow. If I dont go to sleep my wife... well I dont want to listen to it LOL! It appears I'm running out of posts anyhow, night all.

Ok! So I saddled up and did it! Backed up my iPhone, imported unnecessary photos to reduce size of conversion. JAILBROKE!! Now I'll be running around destroying stuff on multi! Thanks Quinck!

I'm brand new to the forum (and kinda new to mcpe) so they limit my amount of initial posts (a way to prevent spammers I suppose).
1. I don't have a problem, I have just always been helpful and looked after forums I am a part of.
2. If you read the Official forum rules found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum-126/announcement-47-forum-rules-and-information/
It says DO: Stay on Topic - Don't derail threads with your own conversation.
