It worked in my house fine for my roommates but now no one can log in. It says failed to connect for them all but once i go back to 1.16.5 they can log into the world.
I have tried disabling all firewalls, direct connection etc with no success.
If you havent figured this out yet, with the new update instead of just typing in the ip, example "192.168.1.140" you now have to include the port it pops up in chat when you hit the open to lan button. It will say something in chat along the lines of "opened to lan on port 50556" and you tell your friend that number and he enters an example like this "192.168.1.140:50556" and it will work.
I found your post looking for the answer to this myself, figured i'd come back to make sure you got the answer too.
Jaybiirds, THANK YOU! I've been trying everything and finally stumbled this and it actually worked! At first I didn't look closely enough and missed that in your quoted example there is a colon between the ip and the port number. Once I did that it worked like a charm. I can't believe that I haven't seen mention of having to type it this way anywhere else that I've searched. My daughter has been begging to play the new update with me and I'll be able to tell her in the morning that we finally can!

Edit: No one knows anything??
