First time poster, not totally sure how this all works.
My younger sister made a Minecraft account around 6 years ago. She was pretty young when she made it and used our dad's email, which is now non-existent as they shut the servers down. Obviously, now she can't make any changes to her Mojang account because she can't verify her identity and she made the security questions so long ago that the answers are basically a mystery at this point.
I've tried reaching out to Mojang support on Twitter but never got a response. What is the best way forward? She's logged so many hours that simply creating a new account is kind of out of the question.
What has she logged those hours ON? Singleplayer worlds are NOT stored on your account, meaning you can access them with any account as long as it is on the same PC. If she spent a lot of time on multiplayer servers, well, I can't help ya there.

Ah I should have mentioned, she plays the Java version on a mac. Is this still possible on mac?

Yes, the drive will still exist, therefore the saves will still exist
