When I try to sign into Minecraft in the launcher, it says "Sorry! Make sure you are online and try again." So after doing some research, I came across a thread on this forum, about editing the hosts file. I remember messing with this once because I watched a video a while back, however, I cannot find it again. I also have a "hosts - Copy" file which I believe is the normal copy of the hosts I made, and I also have a "hosts (2)" file which is blank. The normal hosts file I had had these two lines, which I am supposed to delete because another forum said to do it.
I deleted them, but my problem is I was unable to save it. I ran notepad as an admin, but after trying again and again 3 different pop-ups said something. (They didn't appear at once, just appeared at different times of me trying). Please look at the pictures I attached. The first time, when I tried to delete the file altogether, it said something about it being open in my antivirus, Webroot. The second time I tried to save it after deleting the 2 lines above, and it said that I needed to contact an admin, which should be me. The third time I forgot what i did, but it said that it was running in a different process. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic of the third one, but I remember trying to follow a fixing tutorial on it. Please help me, I would like to play Minecraft. But I cannot modify the hosts file! I'm scared that someone has admin privliges on my computer and account, and I am sorry for trying to use alts. Thanks!
Remove MCLeaks or any AltDispencers, run a full virus scan, run a maleware scan, change your Minecraft password and any other passwords that maybe the same as your Minecraft one as MCLeaks will have stolen it, shame on you for using illegal software to access stolen accounts and clean your HOSTS file by removing any lines related to Mojang.
To edit your Host file, do the following:
Go to the Start Menu and locate Notepad. Right click Notepad and select "Run as Administrator"
Click on File, then Open. Enter %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\etc\hosts as the "File name" and click "Open".
Say something silly, Laugh 'til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!

Copy the hosts.dat to another location (desktop) and try it again
If it is not working, start your PC in safe mode
