Does anyone know how to run Minecraft version rd-132211 from a command line/batch file? It shouldn't be too hard since it doesn't require logging in and I need this for a project I'm working on.
problem is I can't use that launcher because I am limited to java 5, I working on a project called Running mc on win95 and I am trying to run that version of mc because I heard it works on java 5 and I wasn't able to get java 6 to work to get the old launcher working, I can only open the alpha launcher but it doesn't work because it is not supported. Win95 is limited to java 5
I think all (older) versions require a minimum of Java 6 - I think there is no way to get that version running on win95
Versions prior to 1.6 only require Java 5, which presumably includes the pre-1.6 launcher, though it may not work anymore due to changes in the login process and the download servers (if it lets you play demo you can run the game; versions prior to 1.3.1 don't recognize the demo flag so it won't be enabled. You'll need to rename "rd-132211.jar" to "minecraft.jar" and I'm not sure if it will work with the libraries, I assume for 1.5.2 as that was the last version it supported):
Also, in order to find the launch command in the current launcher you need to use Process Explorer to copy the command used to launch javaw.exe (I had a look at the launcher log and didn't see anything that looked like an actual launch command, only "Starting process C/.../javaw.exe", as I recall seeing in an older launcher log, as seen in this example ("half command"); I presume Mojang removed it because you can bypass the need to have an account since the game itself doesn't care if you are logged in):
Thank you so theoretically I should be able to run up to 1.5.2 and in fact, I did try that before with a pirated version of the alpha launcher using java 1.5.05 (last version of java that functions on win95) and it came up with a blank screen. I was thinking maybe the rd version would work so I was looking for a way to make it launch from a command since I can't use the legacy launcher.

It is a launcher-client file - it should work by double-clicking it
uh no
Is there a message?
Did you have Java installed?
if I try to just run the version .jar it says invalid or corrupt because it is meant to be launched from the launcher
And via Minecraft-Launcher?
Go to installations - checkmark "historical"
Click on "new" and scroll down to this version (at the bottom)
Maybe this jar requires some other files to run

try running it on a modern PC and checking the launch arguments.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
