My game keeps crashing. It is now virtually unplayable. I had been playing with a few of Xisumavoid's Vanilla Tweaks but when the game started crashing I worried they had corrupted my save file so I deleted them. I have tried several times to fix my save file by copying in new level.dat, level.dat_old and session.lock files from a new world generated with the same seed but it didn't work. I've updated and patched everything pertinent to the game.[/p]
Is there any way I can save my game? I have spent a lot of time on it and I would hate to lose it.[/p]
Here's a bit from the sh_err_pid9396 report. It's long but I can post other sections if need be.[/p]

the log says the error happened outside of the java vm so you have a different issue. A "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" means windows cant read something that's supposed to be in ram(memory) eather do to a ram stick going bad or more likely a software error.
id check the ram as this is fairly easy run windows memory diagnostics(its built into win10 not sure about win8 though)
if it comes back clean then your looking at finding a corrupt file. finding them can be harder usually requiring some command line work
but updating the drivers(gpu) and windows can fix it as well.
if you feel like doing a more advanced and complete ram check download and burn a dvd or write a usb key with a ubuntu live disc iso and run memtest86+ off of it (this is how i do my ram testing)

both the intel and nvidia drivers are old and on a labtop w both, both need to be updated to run properly as the intel chip runs the labtops display and the nvida chip pumps through it (also windows10 2004 is a bit buggy on the older gpu drivers)
That's interesting. I used my GeForce and Intel updater before I posted but I failed apparently. I found the GeForce driver and it's now current. I couldn't find the Intel driver you mentioned and the updater again says I'm current. Going to Intel's site there is a generic Windows 10 driver I can download but it says it will overwrite my manufacturers (ASUS) drivers. Can you point me to the driver your referring to and will it mess with any ASUS "optimized" stuff?
As a sidenote, after I installed the GeForce driver I logged into the game. It did last longer before it crashed but it crashed with the same error message none the less.
Here's where I'm at. The NVIDIA driver is up to date. The problem is when I try to install the latest Intel driver version 27.20.100.8336 it gives me an error message that says it can't install over my ASUS installed driver. But when I go to the ASUS site, the driver they have listed for my laptop is actually older than the one I have currently installed. What are my options? How can I fix this?

sorry ive been a bit busy
and as for the intel sites drivers ive never had a issue using them on my msi laptop but the worries are founded as the generic driver may use more power than the asus ones making it run hotter.
also did the nvidia driver update fix the game or is it still having issues?
since nvwgf2umx.dll is part of the nvidia drivers and ddu will likely remove it hopefully fixing the issue!
ill leave it up to you if you want to run ddu its helped me a few times and its fairly easy to use but if you don't know what its options are doing it can break things including windows! if you do decide to run it read its guide on its download page. running ddu in safemode will get a better cleanup.
if this does not fix it or you decided not to run ddu then i am out of ideas
With the Intel driver, would you suggest removing the ASUS version of the Intel driver and then install the generic one from the Intel site or just stick with ASUS one? The ASUS driver available to download on the ASUS site is actually older than the one I have currently installed.
So updating the Nvidia driver didn't solve my issue. It took a little longer for the game to crash but it still crashed in the same manner. So your advice would be to run ddu in safemode, uninstall the Nvidia driver and then reinstall the driver from scratch? I'm willing to do that. Your warning about breaking Windows is a bit ominous but I just want to play the game again.
I haven't had a chance to try and I wanted to make sure I was interpreting your suggestion correctly.
So what you're suggesting I should do is run ddu in safemode, uninstall the Nvidia driver and then reinstall the driver from scratch?

ASUS doesn't have a newer driver posted on their site. The one I have installed is actually newer than the one that's their site.

That file is part of nvidia drivers.
Post a dxdiag log https://minecrafthopper.net/help/pixel-format-not-accelerated/support/
Thank you omegadragonstar and Tails1 for helping me. It's very appreciated.
Here's the dxdiag log.

if its still having issues there is a program called ddu (display driver uninstaller) it can remove all nvidia, intel, and amd(radeon) drivers fully and there associated registry settings: This program modifies the registry use at your own risk!
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/1001/wagnard-tools-ddugmptdr-manipulator-new-cpu-core-a/

so did ddu work? im assuming from the "..." that no it didn't ?
I haven't had a chance to try and I wanted to make sure I was interpreting your suggestion correctly.

yep and the Intel driver is removable the same way in ddu as well
if you want to clean Intel: just hit clean and don't restart on nvidia then set to intel and clean and restart
ddu has a option to set safemode on it in its options (it makes it easier to run XD)
grab both latest drivers and disable the internet on the laptop till the drivers are reinstalled or windows will grab old drivers
also if you have a windows 10 install usb /dvd have it handy in case you get stuck in a boot loop
