This appears to be an issue with Optifine, which is currently only available as a preview version (which may be buggy) for 1.15.2; the crash specifically refers to "SmartAnimations", which sounds like some Optifine setting which may be enabled/disabled through its video settings (I'm not familiar with Optifine's settings since 1.6.4).

What version were you using? According to this report it should have been fixed in pre-8 (the latest version is pre-9):
