Recently I've noticed that my game will start to lag randomly when I am playing. I checked my task manager and I notice that java will use up a whopping 50% to 70% of my computer's memory. I've tried to reduce my video settings as much as possible (graphics, clouds, render distance, smooth lighting, particles etc) but it doesn't seem to help. The only thing that seems to have helped VISUALLY is reducing the max fps to 40 (before it was unlimited), but this does nothing to fix the extremely high memory usage. I have also tried turning off the resource pack I'm creating (32x) but this doesn't help either. I cannot find any online resources that are helpful. I don't think I had much of a problem with this before 1.15 either, but it has been a while since I have played.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 840M, Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
Turning off mipmapping and biome blend does not work. No in-game overlays are used with Minecraft. This memory usage happens in all singleplayer worlds I've played on.
The screenshot below of my f3 screen is from 1.15.1 as well.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game does not help either.
Here you go. I hope I found the JVM arguments in the right place (advanced settings of my 1.15.1 installation). I have not modified this before, so it should be default.
It happens in all singleplayer worlds I've used. I haven't tried on multiplayer since I seldom play multi. Regardless of what world I'm in the memory in my task manager is still well over 2k MB.
So sorry to necro this thread, but I'm still having the same issues. I even uninstalled Minecraft and reinstalled it for funsies and it did nothing to help. I would repost these issues but I didn't want to spam the forum with two posts that were basically the same.
Some help would be greatly appreciated. The attempts at fixing the issue above have done nothing.
I attempted to increase the amount of RAM allocated to minecraft from 2gb to 4gb, but this didn't work either.
I will add all of the above info to the OP so that it is more easily found.
(I do apologize if bumping isn't allowed, but I checked the sectional rules that were listed in the rules tab at the top of the forum and it said bumping every 12 hours was OK.)

Post a screenshot with F3 enabled and your JVM arguments.

Turn off mipmapping and biome blend and any ingame overlays like GeForce.
Both mipmap and biome blend are now off but I see no change in memory usage, even after restarting the game. I never had the overlay enabled.
Does it happen on one world or are others affected?

Bump, but with some extra info:
