First of all, I'm not completely sure if this is the right thread to post this in. If not, please don't be rude: I'm new to Minecraft Forum. Also, I've read the FAQ.
This all started one day when I tried to play Minecraft Forge 1.12.2. The game crashed before the window appeared. I tried playing again, without any mods. Same thing. I rename my .minecraft folder and reinstalled Forge: same thing. I checked the log files, and it appears that nothing is written to them; the game just crashed.
I've tried other versions of Forge, lower and higher than this one, and they all exhibit the same behavior. Vanilla MC plays fine. Note that I have played hours of Minecraft Forge on this computer before this issue arose.
I can't provide a log file since there isn't one. Specs are as follow:
- Ubuntu 19.04
- i7-8550U (4 cores)
- 16GB memory
- Intel UHD Graphics 620
- Inspiron 5000 series laptop
Thank you!

Have you looked for crash reports (separate from the log files, in .minecraft\crash-reports) or the game output (click on settings in the launcher and make sure it is enabled, which will open a separate window containing all output from the game; error codes/stacktraces will not be logged if they use the standard output and not the logger)? There should be at least something being written to one of these; if not, see if there are any files with a name like "hs_err_pid" in the .minecraft folder (these are files created when the JVM crashes, another common reason for a lack of any output from the game itself). The launcher log may also contain a line of the form "process exited with exit code #", where # corresponds to an error code (it should be 0 if the game exited normally).
There are no crash reports from after June 29. However, I just got the output log to open. Trying to run 1.12.2 Forge, the log simply says, "Waiting for log output" but never prints anything. On 1.14.4 Forge, it gives a message (!):
[12:19:01.303] [Client thread/INFO] [STDERR/]: [java.lang.ThreadGroup:uncaughtException:1050]: at cpw.mods.modlauncher.LaunchServiceHandlerDecorator.launch(LaunchServiceHandlerDecorator.java:39)
After that, there's a lot more messages like the second one. If you need all of them, I can post them. At the end, it says, "Process crashed with exit code 1".
Also, not sure if this is important, but upon closing the Output Log, the Minecraft launcher closes.

you need to downgrade to OpenJDK 8, anything after 8 won't work with older versions of forge (don't know for certain about newer forge versions, but it's probably the same)
I'm pretty sure that the Minecraft launcher is also installing Java 11. When I uninstall Java 11, Minecraft uninstalls, and when I install Minecraft, Java 11, reinstalls. What should I do?

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Thank you for responding.

Uninstall java 11 and install java 8.
This is my process:
I think what I'm going to try is downloading the .tar.gz from minecraft.net's downloads. I'll install it manually and see if it works that way.
