initially i was trying to run FTB Infinity evolved in 1.7.10 with R3D Craft 128px textures along with their shaders in the resource folders. which would work but wasnt actually using shaders. So i looked into it and got the correct version of Optifine and put that in the mods folder, but my game would crash when i tried launching it. After hours of working on this and headaches, i decided to just try doing a vanilla load of minecraft in 1.12.2. I added optfine and the game loads and runs perfectly fine, 200+fps at times. But when i try enabling a shader, the game just freezes. ive let it sit for 10+ minutes but eventually just close it out. I have tried multiple different shaders as well. the main one i would like to use it SEUS. Ive read that optifine can cause issues with some mods when using a modpack, but from what i read, i should still be able to play with optfine and a modpack. But regardless of Optifine working with a modpack, when i try playing vanilla with shaders, the game just crashes. Im wondering if this is to do with java or something. Im not really sure, im doing everything that everyone has told me right and i cant get shaders to run even with vanilla minecraft. my pc should be more than enough to run shaders, even if i cant use SEUS, i should be able to run some form of shaders.
Im running windows 10
Intel i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Ive got an AMD Radeon 580x series graphics card as well.
16gb of ram, ive allocated 8gb to minecraft because of the modpack
*Update* In case it helps anyone. I finally got this to work. First of all, after searching for hours, Optifine doesnt like certain mods apparently, the mod Fastcraft was included in both of the modpacks i was trying, after removing it, the game ran fine (I'm sure their are more mods that can cause issues but i got lucky and Fastcraft was the only one that i noticed causing issues) . I also found out that SEUS doesn't work well with AMD apparently. I found that hard to believe but regardless, I just used a different shader which was the Beyond Belief Shaders.
So far I am very impressed with the beyond belief shaders. I ended up just using the default minecraft textures but all of the texture packs i tried worked perfectly fine.
Another note was that when you are in the game and going to enable the shader of your choice, it helps to be in window'd mode. I think i read that it had something to do with AMD openGL or something but it worked for me.
Hope this helps anyone running into a similar problem
