So I have a large modded world in 1.7.10. Finally all of my fav mods updated and I switched to 1.12.2. However, everything lags sooo much its crazy:
I have a great gaming pc with 16G Ram, Nvidia Geforce 1060 6G
So I tried everything possible:
-used a different jvc arguement, added 8 G
-put down all settings to the lowest possible
-removed some mods
It's strange, I start the game and its fine ( a little laggy), but then when I play for a while it just lags sooo much! I restart minecraft and it fixes the problem but I don't want to keep doing that...
I even tried playing offline but there's still lag.
I do have a texture pack and shaders, but I played with all of that on 1.7.10 with over 60 mods and not even the lowest settings and it barely lagged, still had average 30-60fps.
okay, firstly set the RAM allocation to no more than 6GB. 4GB should be plenty normally but if you use an extremely high-res texturepack (or a lot of mods) you might need the extra 2GB. Secondly, check the game log for any errors or warnings as those can have a huge impact on performance (especially OpenGL errors which can occur with some shaderpacks). Third, do you have the same issue if you create a new world? If not than it might be your world that's the issue here.
It's just so strange: I had a world in 1.7.10 that I edited with mcedit with the same schematic, and I have way more mods on that world and a big texture pack with shaders, I still get 30fps there.
However, I went over to 1.12.2, got the mods and have everything on the lowest setting, no resource packs or shaders and got rid of most of the mods, and I get huuuge lag that varies from 6, to 12, to 26 or 30. It's not as low when I leave the mcedit city I added.
Is there anythign on mcedit I can do to edit the area?

On 1.12.2, it lags so much sometimes to 10fps...

alright, I figured out what I may have done:
I used mcedit to add, say, a large city, and that is the area where it lags the most. As soon as I leave the area, fps goes back up.
I converted these areas as mushroom islands so mobs do not spawn, however, there is still huuge lag.
What can I do to prevent this?
I don't get any errors for shaders or anything!

So I figured out after playing around for ages...it's not mcedit, but optifine for 1.12.2 that is causing the major lag...
