i am trying to make the mob spawner place my custom textures for my upcoming data pack by using the Custom Model Data so the blockstate for the mob spawner can tell what texture to place down but everytime its a checkerboard texture
Mob spawners do not use blockstates to determine what they spawn; they use a tile entity and are otherwise an ordinary block with no states, and I don't think you can add your own with resource packs (either way, there is no code in the game to choose a texture according to the mob spawned. I don't think that using data values which are not normally used work either, especially since 1.13 removed metadata; before then all blocks had metadata even if they did not use it so in theory you could place spawners with a data value of 1-15 and have them use a different texture from the default spawners with a value of 0).
