Hello everyone. Recently I switched from a Mac to a PC, and since then I've been having issues with movement in Minecraft; Whenever I press a WASD key down at the same time that I hit spacebar, that WASD key will become "stuck" and my player will continue to move even when I'm no longer touching the keyboard. This happens incredibly frequently, probably around 5 times a minute, and it makes the game unplayable when you're in dangerous situations.
After a lot of troubleshooting and googling, I have narrowed down the most likely cause to be the LWJGL library. From what I read, the solution to that problem is to update LWGJL, so that's what I did. I could not figure out how to manually update LWGJL in the new launcher, but I did find a way to force the Launcher to update: I deleted the LWJGL folder located at .minecraft\libraries\org\lwgjl, and then ran the latest version of Minecraft to force install a newer version of LWJGL. This updated LWJGL from version 2.9.4 to version 3.1.6, which did fix the issue in MC 1.13. However, I only play on 1.8.9 and 1.12.2 (both of which have the bug), so this didn't solve my problems.
I also read a lot of the old forum threads about this topic, but the solutions I found in those threads are either outdated or don't work.
Here's a list of everything else I have done to try and fix the bug: (None of these worked)
Disabled "in-game overlay" in the NVIDA GeForce Experience app.
Updated Java to the latest version.
Updated Windows 10 to the latest version.
Downloaded Optifine.
Downloaded and ran the old Minecraft launcher.
Deleted the previously mentioned LWGJL folder and let the old launcher re-install it.
Disabled "sticky keys" in the Windows settings.
Here's what I know isn't causing the bug:
The keys on my keyboard. I checked and nothing is physically causing them to stick.
The keyboard itself. I have played other games with WASD controls and have not experienced this bug even once, so I'm assuming it's not the keyboard.
My PC's performance. My FPS is always at least above 100, so I'm good there.
Here's my system specs: Windows 10, 16GB of RAM, NVIDA GTX 1050, Intel i5-8600k
Is anyone else having this problem? And if so, have you found any solutions?
After force updating LWJGL, I no longer have the stuck keys issue in 1.13.2. However, whenever I would normally get a stuck key (W/A/S/D + Space at the same time), the game crashes instead. I'm mostly concerned about versions prior to 1.13.2 though, because I only play on 1.8.9 and 1.12.2. And in those versions, the stuck keys bug still takes place even after updating LWJGL to the latest version. (No crashing happens prior to MC 1.13)
I checked out the incompatibility list, thanks for the link. The only incompatible software I have is GeForce Experience, and I already disabled the in-game overlay so it should not be the cause of the problem.
Old versions are not designed to work with new lwjgl, hence why they're old.
Good point. Problem is, the old versions of MC also don't work with the older LWGJL versions. No matter what version of LWGJL I have installed, the stuck keys glitch still takes place in MC 1.8.9 and 1.12.2.
EDIT: After a bit more testing, I am fairly certain that stuck keys bug is not the cause of the game crashing in 1.13.2. Even when I don't move at all, the game still crashes. (It might just be a corrupted save.)
EDIT #2: I created a new singleplayer world in 1.13.2 and tested the bug there. No crashing at all. (Something was definitely wrong with the other save.) Sorry about that.
I have figured out another quirk with the bug; it only starts happening after I open my inventory. So, the movement keys won't get stuck until I open my inventory for the first time, and from then on they will. (Restarting the game resets this.)
Sorry for the additional reply. I just thought I'd mention this in case it changes anything.
Okay so I figured out how to fix the glitch, but it's kinda strange. It turns out is WAS my keyboard all along. I know this because I got a new keyboard recently, and I have not experienced the glitch since switching.
What's strange is I know my old keyboard is not the direct cause of the glitch - Minecraft is. If my old keyboard was completely at fault, then I would have the same issue in other games with WASD controls. (Which I didn't.) So I can only assume that for whatever reason, LWJGL has an issue with my old keyboard. Perhaps a driver or something? I really don't know.
So for anyone else who is having this problem: Even if you're positive it's not your keyboard, try switching it out. It might work.

Which MC version are you having the issue in? The current version, 1.13.2, already comes with updated lwjgl. Check this list of incompatible software https://minecraftirc.net/support-articles/known-incompatible-software/

If the game is crashing post the crash report. Old versions are not designed to work with new lwjgl, hence why they're old.
