So I've recently come back to Minecraft to play with a group of friends, try to join a server with them in 1.7.9 but it crashes as soon as I join? Says I joined the server then Minecraft just stops and kicks me sometimes without an error msg. Eventually they were able to swap the server to 1.8 and it works just as fine but the problem still persists after I've reinstalled Minecraft, tried to repair it, and even reinstalling java. Something else I found was that when I'd try to repair Minecraft it runs into an error and just doesn't repair.

The Render Distance was set too high with Minecraft 1.8 or newer. Lower the rendering distance in the options.
