Everytime i close my minecraft instance the launcher crashes. While this is not really an issue it is still quite annoying. Im running macOS high sierra (10.13.4)
if you check in the Windows Event Viewer right after it crashes you can see the windows error reporting log. I was having the same issue, and my error log referred to libcef.dll which is a dll in the minecraft/install/game folder that my launcher was using. i replaced it with a higher version number one(in this case one from my base steam install found in steam/bin/cef and it doesn't seem to crash anymore.
dunno why it crashes, but it might be something updated in windows that the old libcef.dll refers to that causes it to crash.
the version my launcher was using was 3.2840.1511.0, but the version steam had was 3.3325.1807.0
I would avoid just downloading one off the internet as some people stuff malicious code into dlls before they upload them to the internet.

... so tell me: where is windows here?
Not sure what causes this but can confirm it also happens for me on windows and Linux, doesn't seem to be an OS specific thing
