The controls, sounds, and menu buttons all work, but for some reason, the graphics freeze. Minecraft did not crash. This is not a screen recorder crash. I was using OptiFine at the time of this recording, however, this also happened in Forge before. I'm not sure if this happens in Vanilla.
So why does this happen, and how do I prevent it from happening in the future?
If it happens in Vanilla, then there is probably nothing much we can suggest, as it's not a mod causing the problem. You can always Contact Mojang with this.
But what could possibly cause these problems? It's not like my computer lags a lot or stuff.
So, I was playing Minecraft, and this happened:

EDIT: Happens in Vanilla.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but this looks (based on the chat text @ left) like it was an intended effect of the map/mini-game…
Possibly with more details:
if the graphics freeze, how do the controls and menu buttons work i.e. what effect do they have when you use them?
Probably your best bet for assistance is the cubecraft folks.
I hear the sounds when I press where the buttons would be. I'm pretty sure they do what they're supposed to do, it just doesn't show up on the screen.
No this is not intended. Because let's face it: a server can't force your pause screen to not show up, yet the sounds play when you click the buttons.
This is a client side glitch, and I'm pretty sure Cubecraft can't do anything about it.
I'm going to run Vanilla.

Well what do you know... it happened in Vanilla !
Except that the mouse cursor doesn't show up when I press ESC.

By the way I’m going to see if this happens in earlier versions.
No, it also happened in a modding api for 1.12.2.

I'd be somewhat surprised if this works (and you may have already gone down this rabbit-hole)… but,
Have you checked the physical hardware connections ( tried un-plugging and re-plugging all cables and reseating your graphics card etc.)?
[Might as well vacumn the inside of your box while you have it open, too.]
Something of a longshot, but it is possible for accumulated dust and/or vibration to degrade the phtsical connections :dunno:
Have any of you experienced this as well?

I have. How did you solve this?
