Ever since 1.7.10, there has been a really big glitch. I kept thinking that it would get fixed, but updates came, and it was still there. In fact, the glitch seemed to get WORSE as the game went on. It's the thing where you try to break wood with your hand, and it doesn't break. It just comes back and you have to break it again. You have to hold it for like 10 seconds for the wood to actually break. At first, it was only with your hand, but now it is happening when I am holding an axe, or any tool for that matter. With the latest update coming out, I thought this would get fixed. But it DIDN'T! Why not?!
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.

How do you recreate this bug? I'm not experiencing it in game at all. Has there been a bug report made?

Ptolemy2002 are you getting mixed up between creative mode and survival mode? In creative, objects are instantly broken, whereas in survival mode they take time to break, depending on the material and the tool you're using.

It happens to me whenever I open a new survival world and try to chop a tree. I'm not sure if it has been reported.
Does it eventually go away after playing for a few minutes / hours in the same world?
Does it stop happening after you travel farther away from the original spawn location?
Asking because I often get tick lag just around spawn in a new world, because the world is still generating. Sometimes it doesn't go away until I leave the original spawn area entirely, or pre-generate the surrounding area while standing still. This happens even though my PC is pretty beefy still and running on SSD.

How to deal with ignorance (in life, and on forums): The Zen way... Stay cool and polite, treat people as you wish to be treated, rise above your impatience. Everyone is ignorant of something at any point in their lives, including you.

Looks like it stopped after reloading the world. That doesn't make sense to me, but it worked.

Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Minecraft 2.0
Minecraft 1.VR-Pre1
Snapshot 15w14a
Minecraft 3D
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:

When creating a new world, it has to generate all the chunks for the first time, water starts flowing, lava starts flowing, sand or gravel start falling and most resource intensive process takes place: light calculation. Add a render distance above 12 and it takes your computer down.

It's caused by server tick lag due to overload of the server. That's usually caused by insufficient memory or processing power.
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!

It's not that the blocks are breaking too fast, it is that they are not breaking at all. Every time I try to break it, the block comes back.

Yay! Minecraft works again! I did that and used 2GB for Xmx and Xms. I then changed my render distance to 10, and that did the trick.
