I have a really weird problem, when i dismount my horse it disappears from view, but still makes noise, but i cannot mount it, and if i immediately exit and save, and restart minecraft, the horse is right next to me.
It happened about a week ago, but i was running a bunch of mods, and using my old computer, so i thought no big deal, i probably was running too much and overtaxing the system, but this week I bought a brand new IMac 4.0 Gig i7 quad core, and upon installing minecraft and optifine ONLY, it is doing it again almost every time i dismount my horse.
I haven't seen the horse disappear running vanilla MC, but to be honest, i always run optifine, I hardly ever play vanilla MC because I run high end shaders and HD resource packs generally.
UPDATE: I have started running without optifine, and the horse disappears as well, have noticed that it happens more likely when i ride the horse over long distances. If i get on my horse and get right off, over and over, the horse remains visible, but if i get on the horse and ride for a good distance (~500 blocks for example), the horse almost always disappears when i dismount, even when not running optifine.
I'm running the newest java (8.91), newest optifine (ultra B2 1.92). I have not put any other mods at this point, and the problem occurs regularly. I haven't found anyone else with this problem, but it occurs when i use optifine ultra b1 1.92 as well.
To reiterate, i do NOT have forge or liteloader installed, only Optifine.
UPDATE: As stated above, I am now running vanilla minecraft with NO MODS, NO OPTIFINE, horse still disappears when i dismount, getting pretty frustrated as to why this seems to be only happening to me. I am running OS X el capitan, if that helps.
You aren't the only one, it's happening to me in vanilla as well. It's happened twice now since yesterday. Like yourself, it's only happened after traveling long distances (which I probably wouldn't have even noticed had you not mentioned it.) It just now happened after riding for roughly a kilometer. I dismounted in the middle of a large, empty field and turned around to leash him and he was just gone. So I paused, ran a google search, and found this thread. Thanks for pointing out that quitting and restarting is a temporary workaround. I restarted my client and after loading my horse was standing right there in front of me.
I've never experienced this before but I hadn't played since 1.7, so I imagine it's a bug introduced in one of the more recent updates. I'm not using optifine, forge, or any mods whatsoever. I'm running pure vanilla v1.10 in Windows 10.
I checked the log but found no useful, related errors. I see you've posted this in the Modded Client section of the forum. I'm using an unmodified client so I'm going to post over in the Unmodded section too and link to this thread. Hopefully this bug will get a bit more notice.
