I've recently have updated my computer to windows 10 and I was able to play a few times before the following started to happen. I tried updating java and re-installing minecraft. I can get into the initial start screen were you get the updates, news and log into your profile. though once I press the play button the following pops up instead of the game.
Please help im going through MC withdraws.

This weird solution should work for an unknown reason:
Edit your launcher Profile.
Go to the Java Settings, Executable line. Check the box, change where it says "javaw.exe" to be "java.exe"
