I'm playing Minecraft on my Mac, and I cannot load any mods whatsoever. I follow every rule, direction, and not one mod works. Textures are messed up, blocks don't load in the item menu, and other various problems. It's not even large mods that I'm installing. I'm installing simple mods such as Mr. Crayfish's Furniture Mod, Bibliocraft, or Decocraft. Nothing works. The only mod that has worked so far is optifine. At least, I think it works.
Now, I am aware that some older computers will not support mods for minecraft because they simply don't have the capability. This Mac hasn't been updated in a long time, and is quite old. So I'm not sure if that's my main suspect here, or maybe I'm just being derpy and not doing something correctly. I'm running on OS X Version 10.9.4.
Well, I tried using a lesser version of forge as well. I do warn you, the last time I played minecraft was in the 1.6 days. And now with 1.8.8, the login and logs and such I am not familiar with. I'm also not all that familiar with Macs, since I'm a Microsoft person. I can always try to mod it again, and show you what it's doing?
What you should try doing is not using minecraft version 1.8.8. Look at the minecraft version required for the mod you are downloading (usually found on the downloading page), and you must use that version of minecraft. For example, if I download Bibliocraft, I would go here and notice that it says "supports: 1.7.10". This means that you must have minecraft 1.7.10 (not minecraft 1.7.10 or better) in order for that mod download to work. You can find the mods with the versions you want by just searching for "minecraft mod (mod name) (version)", such as I did with "minecraft mod bibliocraft 1.7.10"
I installed Harvestcraft, just to show you what happens when I try to install mods. With this one, Most of it was fine. However, I got that strange blocky language, as you can see in one of the screenshots of the menu screen, and some of the blocks are missing. And yet, the mod worked perfectly fine. With other mods, most of the blocks are missing, and only the mod works. The other two screenshots show the few blocks that are missing from the game.

Oh pssh heck no. My computer in no way can support that mod. The only thing I'm using would be optifine, and of course texture packs. And TPs in itself tend to make minecraft run a little slower, especially since I don't have a great computer.

Logs? Screenshots?

what version of minecraft are you using?
I'm using the newest version of minecraft.
Some mods required a lesser version, since there was no update for it at the time, but even then, after following all the steps, it didn't work.
You need to elaborate.
The "newest" version of minecraft can either be interpreted as the snapshot or 1.8.8. Which version of minecraft are you trying to mod?

Logs in a spoiler or you will only get random speculation.

if you are using the 1.8.8 the problem is that version don't have forge and mods, use the 1.8 or the 1.7.10

Could you tell me what those blocks are supposed to be?
Would you happen to be using shadersmod?

Then remove the Texture/Resource Pack.
And we still need a log.
