I got a new laptop, specs are i7 @2.7ghz, Intel HD 4000 + nvidia quadro k3000m, 16gb ram.
Every time I run MC, it runs on the intel hd 4000, producing terrible framerates and making shaders impossible.
I tried setting java.exe, minecraft.exe, /runtime/jre...javaw.exe, technic.exe, and javaw.exe to the dedicated processor in the control panel but nothing will work.
I know which javaw.exe my minecraft uses, I've gone to task manager, opened file location of that process, and set that process under the dedicated video card.
Strangely, 1.7 seems to be running very well on full graphics (70+ fps with 109 mods) whereas 1.8 lags on 25-30 fps on half graphics.. I'm assuming 1.7 works with NVIDIA while 1.8+ just wants to be a pain in the.. rear end.
Thanks for the help.
Damn, I just want to run shaders on the game that's it. Even the lowest shaders lag like hell on the HD 4000.
I've tried this too, with Minecraft.exe, technic.exe, and any other minecraft related exe. Doesn't seem to work with the NVIDIA GPU (When I press F3, it says it's using Intel HD 4000).

I upgraded windows server 2012 to windows 8.1, installed my graphics drivers, and it worked.. When I press F3 it says Nvidia Quadro k3000m, and performance is much better. I realized this just as I was about to upload the dxdiag log.

MC has no control over this. The video driver controls which GPU will be used.
Make sure you know exactly which binary of java is running when MC runs, and assign that to the dedicated processor.
Use TaskManager Processes tab and Open File Location to know exactly what is running.

One way to force it, is to right click on the application, then select run with graphics processor, then high performance nvidia processor.

Optifine also says the same.
Odd, it must be your specific card, or glitchy drivers, that does not allow this. Care to provide your DxDiag log?

Sure, I will do tomorrow. Schedule jam packed today.
My drivers are updated.
Thanks
It's fixed!

Hey, its been a while but how exactly did you fix it? What exactly is window server 2012?
and why would that fix the issue?
I have a laptop with dedicated card and cant seem to run minecraft with it.
